1.1 Procedures of Teaching
My Teaching Practice was carried out for 3 consecutive days in two different classes that is SOF and STE classes. following teaching practice is final demonstration. The Final Demo/Final Demosntration is a kindly like a test for practicing teachers and will be assessed by several teachers at the school, the receiving campus lecturer as well as my own cooperating teacher. This assessment will show during their teaching practice what they have learned and gained, how their teaching skills have improved and so on and the practicing teacher will create a lesson plan specifically for the students in their class and be witnessed by those who assess the final demonstration.Â
My Final Demo Day is on February 13th, With the help of my cooperating teacher my lesson plan was easy to understand. The subject content for final demo is Modal Verbs of Permission, Obligation and Prohibition with a Springboard: If by Rudyard Kipling.
Learning begins with greetings to students and continues with praying together led by one of the students. Therefore, I checked class attendance who were absent for that day. Before proceeding to the main learning material, I am reviewing previous material about Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.
There are so many activities in my lesson plan starting from established new lesson, presentation, discussion, developing mastery, practical tasks, and evaluation learning. Here i attach the lesson plan of final demonstration:
1.2 Time management and organizing activities
Learning Time in one period is 50 minutes also for Final Demo. It is quite time-consuming in various lesson activities, such as when students work in groups to create creativity and present it in front of the class, it takes more time than the delivery of material. Even so, I use 15 minutes for greetings, reviewing previous lessons, and establishing a new lesson. Then, i am asking students to make poster, song, poem, dialogue in a groups of four and each of group has 10 minutes to do their work then present in the front of class. So, it's really challenging for me with this constraints time.
1.3 Problem-Solving
As in point 1.2 the problem that exists is time management because the time I use exceeds the actual time limit and from this I learn to practice teaching by adjusting the timeliness. Solving problems with limited time is by maximizing the remaining time so as not to exceed the time limit too much. Also, in the view of fact that I have a little voice, I need to be more confident in the future so that the volume of my voice can be heard throughout the class.
1.4 Classroom Management
I had my final demo in STE class grade 9 and the students there are active and diligent so it really helped me to manage easier managing class and it would not be difficult to focus on teaching either in practicing or final demonstration. Also, my cooperating teacher pay attention to help me master the lesson plan.
