The World is Old... In the halls of the Priest Queens of Ithrandar on the Pillars of Time are inscribed histories that span one hundred and thirty thousand years. Time and time again unity and civilization have triumphed for a brief moment only to descend into stone age barbarism. Hundreds of intelligent species have arisen or arrived, only to dwindle or depart. Each timeless city stands on the ruins of a score before it. Across this weary world have marched uncounted armies, empires enlightened and terrible, confident ideologies and uplifting religions, to say nothing of hordes of monsters and cannibals. Rivers of blood have flowed as Machines and Magic have competed for dominance on the field of battle. But always, in an endless succession of darkest hours, victory has rested on the Sword, and the courage to wield it. It is in steel and prowess that you must trust.
At the end of the world sits a little wooden fortress in a forested valley. To the north are the Icefields of Githlaw, to the west impenetrable mountains, to the south cold desert, and to the East the Howling Sea. This is Sword Haven.
