During the regular school year, I met with many students that were struggling and needed some extra help. Because we were only at school during weekdays until the afternoon, I provided students with information to hotlines in case something came up during the time that they were not at school.
See below for some "Situations" and "What you can do"!
The situation: There has been a crime or someone is at immediate risk of harm to themselves or someone else.
What you can do: Call 911.

The situation: Someone is feeling hopeless, helpless, thinking of suicide or hurting themselves.
What you can do: Contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline online or at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
The toll-free call goes to the nearest crisis center in our national network. These centers provide 24-hour crisis counseling and mental health referrals. If you feel more comfortable texting with someone, text "ANSWER" to 839-863 and a counselor will get back to you.

The situation: Someone is struggling with their orientation or identity and need to talk to someone who is trained in this area.
What you can do: Contact The Trevor Project by calling 1-866-488-7386 or you can text START to 678-678.
Trained counselors are available to support you 24/7. If you in need of a safe and judgment-free place to talk, call the TrevorLifeline.
*The situations discussed above are examples and are not the only reasons you can call/text a hotline. If you need to talk to someone confidentially, use them!
