Meet Our New Co-President:
Kim Manion
Kim is currently in her 18th year teaching at Millboro Elementary School in Bath County. Kim graduated from Mary Washington College and is working on a Masters in Literacy Instruction. Kim lives in eastern Bath County. As a Virginia Master Naturalist, she enjoys volunteering for citizen science projects such as Project FeederWatch and CoCoRaHS (a volunteer precipitation reporting network).
Two of her favorite children's authors are Gordon Korman and Betty Birney. Her favorite Gordon Korman book is Swindle which is the start of a series about kids who try to fix a wrong without the help of adults. Betty Birney's series narrated by Humphrey, the hamster, engages kids with books.
Kim is passionate about helping students find books they enjoy reading. There are lots of different books read inside and outside of the classroom. She participates in an annual summer reading challenge between the staff and students to see who can read more pages. The students usually win which is celebrated.
We are so fortunate to have Kim join our board and help lead our chapter into the future. Welcome Kim!
