Sean Vetter Spring 2024
In collaboration with Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine I've spent the last year working hybrid in under E. Koltz as an Instructional Design Intern. I started working remotely the first week of October setting goals for the year. I am the first intern to be placed for two semesters. My goals were to fill my portfolio with engaging tech driven learning solutions that spoke to real world issues the organization faced. I had no interest in delving into hypotheticals or designing anything that wouldn't be used.
A majority of the early days at HMH were dedicated to understanding the organization. Their calendar is not like other school calendars. Their student learning strategy was different. The students are studying medicine to practice a lifes work on the hospital floor. The classrooms could have animatronic patients or human cadavers.
The first thing I noticed about working with them were the outstanding quality of their questions. They understood instructional design but, I was the expert. It was a relief to know that the value of my work would be appreciated.
