Sean Vetter Spring 2024
My final work for the Faculty Development team was to create a training video on how to record Prework videos for students. Prework is an essential part of the Active Learning Strategy at HMH. The idea is to indroduce your class with framing content to give the student some idea on what to expect from the class. From the professor they usually provide a video 10-15 mins, some literature and maybe a podcast or articles. It is proven to help with learning outcomes and a big part of what I did towards the end of my internship was advocate for these new silos Beth and I had come up with. Medical Doctors aren't always reluctant to begin teaching themselves new technology.
The final project we worked on was another attempt to champion Prework in Scholar RX Bricks. After meeting with the vendor we requested a list of free modules and presented these as examples. We weren't able to find a professor willing to take the dive into creating one of these bricks with me before I pivoted to focusing solely on my capstone work in the simulation lab.
HMH is a Google Campus. The goal is to weave these apps in and out of each other. They blend seamlessly.
Main goals of this project were to organize content in a way that made sense. We came up with a sequentially dispresed class and a topic driven class.
I gave 1:1 training over zoom and meet. Demoed the capabilties to different teams. Created and shared templates. Helped creating a class for elective leads.
In collaboration with faculty development, cirruluar development and vp
Multiple demos with creation of templates. Training over Zoom.
Topic: Inform and provide resources for Elective Leads to use Google Classroom to fascilitate classes
Learning Goals: Feel comfortable inputing class materials in Google Classroom, Fascilitating classwork to students using Google Classroom, share metrics to elevate effectiveness of class materials
Implementation Plan: Present in monthly meeting. Offer 1:1 training in-person and over Zoom, Provide videos in Google Drive and provide link after Zoom.
A lot of the needs and implementation strategies using Active Learning Strategies tigies are the same because they are simliar groups of learners. the only difference is that one group is teaching elective which have a smaller class size and they also might operate outside of the HMH domain which (at first) didn't support Google Classroom. But, we advocated for it to be an option. Class included in core curriculum must be fasciliated on LMS, Leo.
