Description
Reddit calls itself 'the front page of the internet' and, as one of the most popular social media websites, represents a highly interesting research site for linguists as well as researchers in other disciplines. My focus is on the sociolinguistics of Reddit, in particular, I am interested in the sociolinguistic characteristics of subreddits as well as the representation of World Englishes on Reddit (both in terms of linguistic features and attitudes toward them).
In an in-progress study in cooperation with Claudia Lange, we investigate swearing on Indian subreddits.
