I am a linguist and currently work at the Chair of English Linguistics at TU Dresden, Germany. My research investigates (socio)linguistic variation and creativity across historical, regional, specialised, and mediated contexts. My main research areas and interests are:
World Englishes
corpus- and sociolinguistic approaches to Reddit
language and gender in horror films
lexicology and lexicography of specialised registers
non-canonical syntax
This article investigates how the Instagram account @cruxingincolor contextualises and reproduces Mountaineering English terminology. Both the way this is accomplished and the contents of the terms are linked to the concept of 'transient mobility'.
