This project will overview social media's impact on both society and myself. This will be done by conducting surveys, self evaluations, and using statistics to find out just how much social media is impacting most of our lives.
The result of my survey was the statement that I am fairly reliant on social media. I agree with this statement as I do use it and rely on it somewhat but, I feel like it is a normal amount and I can survive without it. Some people constantly have to be on it and take it over the top and I'd say I am not at all at that level.
The statistic I chose is that 64% of Americans say social media has a negative impact on the country. I chose this stat as it surprised me because it is such a large number of people that feel that same way about something that impacts all of our lives. Social media was supposed to be a place for people to connect, stay in touch, and show different parts of their lives and it has turned into so much more then what was ever anticipated. It is sad to see that so many Americans agree with me when saying that social media has many negative effects on society today.
I agree with the majority of Americans when saying that social media has a very large impact on social media but that this impact is also a negative one. I believe that this impact has grown over time as more and more people begin to use social media regularly and make it a large part of their lives. There are many different ways that social media impacts the world negatively weather this is people relying to much on social media, bullying others, or spreading false information, it is getting out of hand. I think it is time for America and the world to take a step back and reflect on how social media is effecting most facets of our lives and decide weather this is the route they want to go. Social media will keep advancing and having a larger and larger impact but it is up to us to decide if this will be a positive or negative impact.
I learned a lot from doing this project, this included the statistics but the most alarming part was realizing just how much of a grasp social media has on so many people and how there can be so many negative impacts from social media.
