This was a partner project where two countries were selected and compared to one another based on various categories. Me and my partner chose the countries Mexico and New Zealand. We researched then compared these countries on categories like demographics, climate, technology usage, digital divide, and e-waste management. We then presented this information in a PowerPoint that showcased the similarities and differences of these two countries on multiple levels.
The facts that stood out to me were the lack of recycling that these countries do. New Zealand only recycled 2% of their waste while Mexico only recycles around 10%
There were multiple lessons that were learned by completing this project. One being just how lucky we are to live in the USA where we have widespread access to internet and electronics, a solid infrastructure, and paths for growth. The next is that we need to help these countries get to a level similar to us. This could be done by grants, loans, tutorials, or donations that could jump start growth in these lower countries. Lastly, I learned that there are a lot worse countries then the ones we selected. What I mean by this is that these countries we selected are considered to be developed countries so I can only imagine the situations that these countries are in both as a whole and technologically.
