OLD SCHOOL, Teaching Back in the Day chronicles the life and career of the author, Susan Coryell, who taught secondary English, grades 7 – 12, for 30 years, spanning 1968 to 2001.

From 2 years in a private school in Honolulu to 28 years in intermediate, middle and high schools in Northern Virginia public systems, this career educator dealt successfully with every course of study and curriculum for which her undergraduate BA in English and MAIS graduate degree certified her.

Throughout the memoir, author/teacher Coryell deals with educational practices as they evolve, while inculcating lessons with her own objectives and methodology, in order to “take students from where they are to where they need to be.”
