The mission of the K–12 School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate program that supports the academic, career, and social-emotional growth of all students. Through collaboration with educators, families, and the community, we empower students to become resilient, responsible, and productive citizens who are prepared for post-secondary success.
The vision of the K–12 School Counseling Program is for all students to graduate with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in a diverse and dynamic world. They will be self-aware, socially responsible individuals who are equipped to pursue their goals and contribute meaningfully to society.

The ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards & Competencies outline the mindsets and behaviors school counselors need to meet the rigorous demands of the school counseling profession and the needs of K–12 students. These standards and competencies help ensure new and experienced school counselors are equipped to establish, maintain and enhance a school counseling program addressing academic achievement, career planning and social/emotional development.
