Congratulations to Team HoloChill on their outstanding achievement!

On 4 September 2025, the HoloChill team from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) successfully won the Silver Medal in the Interactive Media (AR/VR) category at the Digital Innovation Creativepreneur (DICE) 3.0 competition held at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre, Johor Bahru.

The team was led by Edwin Wong Kiing En, together with teammates Angel Bong Xin Tze, Tay Yao Yee, and Farrysha Qashryna Teh binti Farrez Teh. Their creativity and dedication captured the attention of the judges, guided by their lecturer, Ts. Dr. Suriati Khartini binti Jali, from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology.

From 𝗦𝘄𝗸𝗚𝗗𝗖’𝘀 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗝𝗮𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, the winners spent 48 hours developing a game from scratch. Weeks later, SDEC flew them to Kuala Lumpur to showcase their game prototypes alongside prestigious studios at 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗨𝗽 𝗞𝗟 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 (𝟲-𝟴 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿).

A proud moment for FCSIT as our talented students have won the Gold Medal and secured 3rd place for Most Informative Booth in the Digital Games Category at the Digital Innovation Creativepreneur (DICE) 2.0 event. Organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, this competition aims to foster creative entrepreneurship among students.

Congratulations to Arvind Arun (third from left, my ex-fyp student 😉) and his team, BeeBeeBoopBoop on their achievement!

The three winning games were “Chicken Express” by BeeBeeBoopBoop, “Lightspeed” by KentangSoft, and “Specter Sight” by The Holiday. All prototypes submitted to the SwkGDC Game Jam can be played for free at https://itch.io/jam/swkgdc-game-jam-2024/entries.  

The winning teams are allowed to showcase at the ‘Level Up Play’ hosted by MDEC, organised from Sept 13 to 15, 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Nurul Farizah, Abby Lian, Ally Dian, Mohd Harith Syazwan and mentor Ts. Dr Suriati won the Best Concept Art Award at the recent Cultural Heritage XR Jam organised by the Faculty of Animation and Multimedia, Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA).

The highly anticipated 48-Hour Cultural Heritage XR Jam, a virtual event that ran from September 1st to September 8th, 2023. This year's XR Jam, held in conjunction with Cyberjaya Innovation Week 2023, aimed to showcase creative ideas that enhance awareness of Malaysian culture and heritage through Extended Reality (XR) development, which encompasses Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR).

Participants of the jam came from all over Malaysia and most were students who came from different institutions, including UNIMAS, UTHM, APU and UKM to make the jam a resounding success. The prize-giving ceremony was held at RekaScape, Cyberjaya where the top five and five runner-up teams were invited to attend in person.

Congratulations to students participating at the Business Idea Pitching Challenge My Brighter Future organised by Yayasan Tenaga National. Two teams from UNIMAS competed and won 2nd place & Best Presenter Awards!
