We are a medical technology-focused lab at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) that develops enabling technologies and systems for
image-guided robotic surgery
millimeter-scale continuum/soft robots
other medical robotics applications such as surgical simulation, rehabilitation, etc.
We push the technological boundaries through research in
mechanism design and system integration
medical imaging/perception
modeling and control (fundamental algorithms and practical frameworks)
sensing and actuation (new materials/techniques, fabrication, model, etc.)
human-robot interaction
The lab promotes collaboration and communication between multidisciplinary engineering students and clinicians, and considers it a critical component towards developing any medical/surgical robotic system that would improve surgical outcomes. We intend to advance fundamental and practical robotics research, and always work towards translating the technology from laboratory to clinical settings.
The lab is also fully committed to a diverse, fun, inclusive and interdisciplinary environment that allows individual member to voice his/her unique perspectives, feel respected and valued, and pursue his/her academic/career goals.
