Tiktok recently rolled out some massive changes with the major privacy highlights as follows:
-Tiktok is now under American ownership which has been endorsed by Trump (Backup Link)
-Tiktok now collects precise location data
-Tiktok now collects and processes citizenship and immigration status (Back Up Link)
It doesn’t take a genius to see the major potential dangers of having massive amounts of actionable data wielded by people trusted by a racist xenophobic president who already instructs ICE agents to illegally break into peoples’ homes without a proper warrant. It seems very likely that Tiktok will now be used as yet another domestic surveillance tool and I’d heavily advise everyone to flee from it.
