Chien-Chou Hou, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Sociology & Social Work at Chung Shan Medical University in Taiwan. Dr. Hou holds a Ph.D. in Social Policy and Social Work and plays a significant role in Taiwan's social work and social policy fields. He serves as the President of the Taiwan Association of Health Care Social Work, Director of the Taiwanese Association of Social Policy, Supervisor of the Taiwan Association of Gerontology, Director of the National Union of Social Workers, and Director of the Taiwan Association of Social Work Education.

Dr. Hou has attended and presented at several conferences recently, including the “19th East Asian Social Policy Research Network 2023 Annual Conference (EASP 2023)” in Sydney, Australia, in 2023; the “Joint Conference on Social Work, Education, and Social Development (SWSD 2024)” in Panama City, Panama, in 2024; and the “20th East Asian Social Policy Research Network 2024 Annual Conference (EASP 2024) & 30th Foundation for International Studies of Social Security (FISS 2024) Joint International Conference” in Kyoto, Japan.

In addition, Dr. Hou has been the journal reviewers in social policy and social work areas, such as Journal of Gerontological Social Work, Journal of International and Comparative Social Policy et al. Dr. Hou is also an associate editor of the Journal of Social Work Practice and Research in Taiwan.

Dr. Hou’s expertise includes health care social work, long-term care, networking, self-management, and indigenous peoples.
