My husband and I were lucky enough to work with Stephanie. She was so understanding about our needs when it came to adopting a puppy.
She made arrangements for us to visit our pup Maggie/ Serenity, when we were not comfortable just picking one of her pups from the website. Stephanie and her Mom worked very hard to raise a healthy , happy litter of pups. I will say all the way from the first step to the final on bringing Maggie home we were supplied with all the knowledge
we needed from this breeder. We are very blessed we decided to use Sunflower Hill. Maggie is adapting well to her new home.
Thanks again, Tina and Rick
In January 2024 we adopted Finley at 7 weeks of age from Sunflowerhill AKC Labrador Puppies in Riverside, CA. She is a beautiful puppy with a sweet disposition. She is adjusting well to home life with us, which includes a cat and two desert tortoises. We are amazed at her calm demeanor. She is certainly aware of nearby construction, the barking of other neighborhood dogs, the sound of coyotes at night, and sirens from the fire station down the road from our home. But she takes it in stride, rarely acting startled or afraid. We are anticipating many years of joy and companionship with Finley.

Hey Stephanie ... hope all is well. Joy went for her first swim yesterday. Thought I'd let you and your mom know about her latest adventure.
Think I mentioned that we don't have a child protection fence around our pool. Tried to keep her away from it ... picking her up and removing her from the pool deck only sparked her interest more. Didn't want to try and run her down ... she thought that was a game and started running away ... so that would only increase the chances that she'd fall in. So, it wasn't a question of if ... but when ... she'd probably fall in. Only thing I could do is say NO when she was peeking over the deck at the water. Was hoping she wouldn't fall in since the water is so cold now.
Went outside to potty ... then I heard the splash. Immediately grabbed the net to lift her out and ran over there. She was swimming like a champ ... smooth & deliberate cruise... like you'd see an otter or beaver gliding along. She looked like Aspen in that water!
When I told my husband, first thing he asked if she swam like Aspen or Durango. Aspen was smooth as silk in the water. Durango (who recently passed away) was the complete opposite. That dog was always on a mission. She'd raise her front paws - causing the water to splash - then bite at the splashes. Shortly thereafter, she'd get all stewed up and begin what I'd call 'yelling' at the waves- very vocal (remember ... she was ... as the breeder said ... a special needs dog mentally). My son, who lives across the parkway from my home, said he was surprised no one in the neighborhood ever called the police or animal control ... thinking an animal was in distress or being abused somehow. Guess they heard the splash when she'd jump in (swam year round) and knew little Durango was just going for her daily swim.
Again, Joy looked just like Aspen ... no panic ... smooth sailing while she swam. I was going to lift her out of the water with the net ... but since she was doing such a fine job swimming ... I simply guided her to the stairs by gently pushing her behind towards them. She got out by herself ... thought perhaps she'd be scared or panicked from the cold water. Negative ... she started wagging her tail and shaking off the water ,,, most happy camper. Took her in to dry off ... and she was supercharged to play after that cold water. Most energetic I've seen her!
Hope she enjoys playing ball in the pool this summer ... and enjoys it as much as Aspen did. It's a great workout for them when it's 110+ degrees out here! Speaking of Aspen, she'd swim all day when we'd take her to Lake Tahoe. Years ago, a professional photographer was taking pictures for their local magazine and asked permission to photograph Aspen playing ball. She was the 'cover girl' for a future issue dedicated to tourists bringing pets to Lake Tahoe ... pet friendly resorts/activities with dogs such as the dedicated dog beach on the Nevada side/etc.
Thought I'd pass along her photo ... the photographer did a great job - got low in the water for the perfect shot !!!!!!

Charmin Toilet Paper commercials have got nothing on puppies from Sunflower Hills Labs!
We found Sunflower Hill Labs through the AKC and I was terrified about going to a new breeder because we have been so fortunate with our last breeder. I knew we had the right one when I first spoke to Stephanie and she told us the babies would be in their home for their first 2 months. She was obviously concerned about the quality of life her young babies were going to have which is exactly what you want in a breeder!
Sebastian was the runt of his litter at 9.5lbs, but he is packed full of love, intelligence, personality and playfulness. At 12 weeks old, he is complete potty trained and knows how to sit and come here. He was very loving from the first moment we met him and has been doing me of the easiest puppies we have ever had. His first vet appointment was all great news because he was given an A+ on his health report card.
He is so cute that Charmin Toilet Paper should call Sunflower Hill the next time they want a gaggle of adorable puppies for a toilet paper commercial.
We are thrilled with Sunflower Hills Labs and would recommend them to anyone looking for a puppy to be part of the family. He makes us laugh with his play-pose and melts our hearts with his snuggles. Stephanie and her family give their litters a wonderful home for their first 8 weeks, which sets them up for be wonderful family members!
But seriously, Charmin should check these folks out.
