Welcome to Sumri.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Sumri mobile application, related features, services, subscriptions, advertising-supported features, websites, support pages, and any other official services connected to Sumri (collectively, the “App” or “Service”).
The App is operated by Sumri Learning Innovations, a registered business name in Nigeria (“Sumri,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By downloading, installing, accessing, creating an account, signing in, subscribing to, purchasing access to, or using Sumri, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, access, create an account, sign in, purchase, subscribe to, or use Sumri.
Sumri is an AI-powered study companion designed to help users convert notes, textbook photos, whiteboards, screenshots, study documents, and supported public links into structured Study Kits and related learning responses.
Study Kits may include:
Academic summaries;
Simplified explanations;
Definitions and key terms;
Practice quizzes;
Quiz options and answers;
Responses to questions submitted through the Ask feature;
Study metadata;
Other AI-generated study-support materials.
Sumri may also provide features for:
Scanning or selecting study material;
Uploading supported documents;
Importing supported public webpages;
Saving and organizing Study Kits;
Synchronizing eligible learning data with an authenticated Sumri Cloud Library;
Asking material-grounded follow-up questions;
Accessing eligible optional Free-With-Ads functionality;
Managing applicable advertising privacy choices.
Sumri is intended to support learning, revision, comprehension, and personal study.
It is not a replacement for textbooks, teachers, lecturers, tutors, professors, formal instruction, professional academic advice, or official school materials.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher, to use Sumri.
By using Sumri, you represent and warrant that:
You are at least 18 years old;
You have legal capacity to agree to these Terms;
You are not prohibited from using the App under applicable law;
Your use of the App will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws, rules, and academic policies.
Sumri is not intended for children or users under 18.
If you are under 18, you must not use the App.
If we discover or reasonably believe that a user is under 18, we may suspend or delete the account and take reasonable steps to delete associated personal data, subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Some features of Sumri require creation of a Sumri account.
Sumri supports authentication through Firebase Authentication, including:
Email-and-password authentication; and
Sign in with Google.
If you choose Sign in with Google, Google authenticates your Google Account and provides the authentication information necessary for Sumri to establish or authenticate your Sumri account.
Depending on the information available through the authentication provider, this may include your name or display name, email address, profile-photo URL, authentication-provider information, and a provider-specific identifier.
Sumri does not receive or store your Google Account password.
Using Sign in with Google does not give Sumri unrestricted access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, files, or other Google services unless a separate Sumri feature expressly requests such access and you separately authorize it.
Your Sumri account remains a Sumri account regardless of whether you authenticate using email and password or Sign in with Google.
Your use of Google authentication may also be subject to Google’s applicable terms, privacy policies, account-security requirements, and service conditions.
When creating or using a Sumri account, you agree to:
Provide accurate, current, and complete information;
Keep your account information updated;
Keep your Sumri login credentials secure;
Keep any Google Account used to access Sumri secure;
Not share your account with unauthorized persons;
Notify us if you suspect unauthorized access to your Sumri account;
Take reasonable steps to protect the device and accounts through which you access Sumri;
Be responsible for activity that occurs through your account, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account if we reasonably believe that your account has been misused, compromised, used fraudulently, or used in violation of these Terms.
Changing, disconnecting, or losing access to an authentication method may affect your ability to sign in. You are responsible for maintaining access to the authentication credentials or provider account you use with Sumri.
Your use of Sumri is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, process, store, share, retain, and protect personal information, including information relating to account authentication, Sign in with Google, optional advertising-supported features, and other Sumri services.
Privacy Policy URL:
https://sites.google.com/view/sumri-legal/privacy-policy
The Privacy Policy also explains:
Information that may be processed when you use email-and-password authentication or Sign in with Google;
Applicable account and data-deletion rights;
Advertising privacy choices;
Consent mechanisms;
Rights relating to Google AdMob, Google Mobile Ads, and Google User Messaging Platform functionality.
If you do not agree with our Privacy Policy, you must not use Sumri.
“User Content” means content that you upload, scan, capture, submit, process, save, or otherwise provide through Sumri, including:
Photos of notes;
Textbook pages;
Whiteboard images;
Screenshots;
Study documents;
Handwritten or printed materials;
Public HTTPS links that you choose to submit;
Publicly accessible webpage material retrieved from links that you submit;
Extracted text;
Questions, prompts, or instructions you submit through Sumri;
Other educational material submitted through the App.
You retain ownership of rights you already hold in your User Content.
Sumri does not claim ownership of your original notes, images, documents, or other materials merely because you submit them through the Service.
By submitting User Content to Sumri, and to the extent you have the legal right to do so, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, transmit, store, reproduce, analyze, retrieve, synchronize, and display that User Content only as reasonably necessary to:
Provide the App’s features;
Extract or retrieve text;
Generate Study Kits;
Respond to questions submitted through the Ask feature;
Save, synchronize, restore, and display eligible Study Kit and Cloud Library data;
Process supported documents and public links;
Provide support;
Maintain security and service reliability;
Troubleshoot technical issues;
Comply with applicable law;
Enforce these Terms.
This license ends when the relevant User Content is deleted or your account is permanently deleted, except to the extent limited information must lawfully or legitimately be retained for security, fraud prevention, billing verification, advertising-reward verification, accounting, dispute resolution, legal compliance, deletion-compliance records, or other purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
You are solely responsible for the User Content you upload, scan, capture, submit, link to, or process through Sumri.
By using Sumri, you represent and warrant that:
You own your User Content, or you have the necessary rights, licenses, permissions, or lawful basis to use and submit it;
Your User Content does not violate copyright, trademark, privacy, confidentiality, academic, contractual, or other legal rights;
Your User Content does not contain another person’s personal information unless you have lawful permission to submit it;
Your use of the App complies with the rules of your school, university, examination body, employer, or institution.
You must not upload, scan, link to, or process materials that you are not legally or academically permitted to use.
Sumri is intended to support lawful study and learning.
You agree not to use Sumri to infringe the copyright or intellectual-property rights of textbook publishers, authors, lecturers, institutions, classmates, schools, or other rights holders.
You must not upload or process:
Textbook pages beyond what is legally permitted;
Paid or restricted course materials without permission;
Proprietary lecture slides without authorization;
Examination papers or protected test materials where use is prohibited;
Another student’s notes without consent;
Materials accessed through public links where your processing or use would violate applicable rights, restrictions, or law;
Any material that violates copyright law, school rules, or institutional policy.
Sumri does not give you permission to copy, distribute, reproduce, or misuse copyrighted educational materials.
Sumri is a study-support tool.
It must be used responsibly and in accordance with academic-integrity rules.
You agree not to use Sumri to:
Cheat in exams, tests, quizzes, coursework, assignments, or assessments;
Submit AI-generated content as your own original work where prohibited;
Misrepresent AI-generated output as human-written work;
Bypass school, university, lecturer, or examination rules;
Generate answers for live exams or restricted assessments;
Process confidential examination materials;
Violate academic honor codes, plagiarism policies, or assessment rules;
Assist another person in academic misconduct.
You are responsible for checking and following the academic rules that apply to you.
If your school, university, lecturer, examination body, or institution prohibits AI tools or restricts their use, you must comply with those rules.
Sumri uses artificial intelligence and related technologies to generate Study Kits and related learning responses.
AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, misleading, biased, or unsuitable for your specific academic context. It may also contain errors, omissions, or hallucinations.
Sumri does not guarantee that any summary, explanation, definition, quiz, Ask response, or Study Kit is accurate, complete, current, or appropriate for your course, examination, assignment, or institution.
You are solely responsible for verifying important information using trusted sources such as:
Official textbooks;
Lecturer-provided materials;
School handouts;
Course outlines;
Peer-reviewed academic sources;
Teachers, lecturers, tutors, or professors;
Official curriculum materials.
Do not rely on Sumri as your only source of academic information.
Sumri does not provide professional, legal, financial, medical, psychological, educational, or academic-certification advice.
Any output generated by the App is provided for general study assistance only.
You should seek appropriate guidance from qualified professionals, teachers, lecturers, tutors, professors, or institutional representatives where necessary.
You agree not to misuse Sumri.
You must not:
Use the App for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, deceptive, abusive, or unauthorized purposes;
Upload unlawful, harmful, defamatory, obscene, abusive, hateful, threatening, or discriminatory content;
Upload highly sensitive personal information, financial information, medical records, government identification documents, passwords, confidential business information, or legally privileged material;
Upload another person’s private information without permission;
Upload malware, harmful code, corrupted files, or content designed to damage systems;
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, copy, modify, or extract the App’s source code except where applicable law expressly permits it;
Scrape, harvest, mine, or extract data from the App without permission;
Interfere with the App’s security, availability, infrastructure, authentication systems, or performance;
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user’s account;
Use bots, scripts, automated tools, or excessive requests to abuse generation, Ask, or service limits;
Attempt to bypass subscription limits, entitlement rules, payment restrictions, security features, quotas, or usage controls;
Attempt to manipulate, falsify, replay, forge, duplicate, automate, or interfere with rewarded-ad completion or reward-verification events;
Use bots, scripts, emulators, device farms, modified clients, network manipulation, automation, or similar methods to obtain advertising rewards that were not legitimately earned;
Attempt to bypass Free-With-Ads eligibility rules, balance caps, daily or monthly earning limits, server verification, anti-fraud controls, or reward-accounting rules;
Interfere with advertising-provider security, verification, consent, or fraud-prevention mechanisms;
Misuse Sign in with Google, Firebase Authentication, or another authentication service to impersonate another person, circumvent account restrictions, create fraudulent accounts, or gain unauthorized access;
Resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or commercially exploit the App without written permission;
Use the App to build, train, or improve a competing product without permission;
Use the App in a way that violates Google Play policies, applicable authentication-provider terms, applicable advertising-provider terms, applicable third-party terms, or applicable law.
We may suspend, limit, restrict, reverse rewards, or terminate access if we reasonably believe that you have violated this section.
Sumri offers limited free access and may offer paid access through Google Play, including fixed-duration prepaid passes and recurring Premium subscriptions.
Sumri’s current paid plan structure may include:
Day Pass: A fixed-duration prepaid plan that does not automatically renew;
Week Pass: A fixed-duration prepaid plan that does not automatically renew;
Monthly Premium: An auto-renewing subscription unless cancelled;
Yearly Premium: An auto-renewing subscription unless cancelled.
Each plan may provide different Study Kit allowances, Ask allowances, scan limits, duration, document-upload access, or other entitlements.
These entitlements are finite and are displayed in the App or through the applicable Google Play purchase flow.
The price, billing period, renewal type, currency, applicable taxes, and other purchase information shown by Google Play at the time of purchase form part of your purchase terms.
All purchases and subscriptions made through the Android version of Sumri are processed through Google Play Billing.
Your payment method and payment processing are managed by Google Play according to Google Play’s terms and policies.
Sumri does not collect or store your full credit card number, bank account details, or full payment credentials.
Access to a paid plan is granted only after the applicable Google Play purchase has been successfully verified through Sumri’s trusted entitlement system.
Active paid Sumri plans are ad-free.
Users with an active paid plan are not required to watch rewarded advertisements to access the features and entitlements included in that paid plan.
Day Pass and Week Pass are prepaid, fixed-duration plans.
They do not automatically renew.
They expire automatically at the end of their applicable access period unless you purchase additional eligible prepaid access or a top-up where that option is offered through Sumri and Google Play.
Because these prepaid plans do not automatically renew, you do not need to cancel them merely to prevent a future automatic renewal.
Monthly and Yearly Premium are recurring Google Play subscriptions and may automatically renew unless you cancel them through your Google Play account before the applicable renewal date.
You are responsible for managing or cancelling recurring subscriptions through Google Play.
After cancelling an auto-renewing subscription, you will ordinarily retain access to the paid entitlement through the end of the period you have already paid for, unless Google Play, applicable law, or the particular subscription state provides otherwise.
Cancellation does not necessarily create an automatic refund.
Refund eligibility and processing are governed by Google Play’s refund policies and applicable consumer-protection laws.
Sumri does not directly process Google Play payments or issue Google Play refunds through an independent payment system.
Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory refund, cancellation, or consumer-protection rights you may have under applicable law.
Sumri may provide limited free access, free Study Kit allowances, limited Ask usage, or other restricted free functionality.
Free and paid plans are subject to finite service, generation, Ask, page, document, security, rate, or other usage limits.
Sumri may offer eligible free users an optional Free-With-Ads feature.
Free-With-Ads allows eligible users to view rewarded advertisements to earn limited additional Study Kit or Ask usage under the rules displayed by Sumri.
Free-With-Ads is optional.
It does not replace Sumri’s ordinary free allowance.
Where applicable, Sumri uses the ordinary free allowance first. Free-With-Ads provides a separate, limited ad-funded usage mechanism once the relevant ordinary free allowance has been exhausted or is otherwise unavailable under Sumri’s current service rules.
Active paid Sumri plans remain ad-free.
Under the current Free-With-Ads configuration:
Three successfully completed and server-verified rewarded advertisements may earn one ad-funded Study Kit credit.
The maximum ad-funded Study Kit balance that may be held at one time is one credit.
A user may earn up to three ad-funded Study Kit credits per day.
A user may earn up to twenty ad-funded Study Kit credits per month.
These limits apply only to ad-funded Study Kit credits.
They do not replace or reduce the separate Study Kit allowance included in ordinary free access or an applicable paid plan.
Under the current Free-With-Ads configuration:
One successfully completed and server-verified rewarded advertisement may earn three ad-funded Ask credits.
The maximum ad-funded Ask balance that may be held at one time is six Ask credits.
A user may earn up to four Ask reward bundles per day, equivalent to up to twelve ad-funded Ask credits per day.
A user may earn up to twenty Ask reward bundles per month, equivalent to up to sixty ad-funded Ask credits per month.
These limits apply only to ad-funded Ask rewards.
They do not replace or reduce any separate Ask allowance included in ordinary free access or an applicable paid plan.
A Free-With-Ads reward is granted only after Sumri’s trusted systems confirm that the applicable rewarded-ad event was validly completed.
Merely:
Opening an advertisement;
Loading an advertisement;
Viewing part of an advertisement;
Receiving a client-side completion event;
Closing or cancelling an advertisement before the required completion point;
does not guarantee a reward.
Sumri may use server-side verification and other security controls to determine whether a rewarded-ad event is valid.
Where verification is incomplete, delayed, rejected, duplicated, fraudulent, replayed, manipulated, or otherwise invalid, Sumri may decline to grant the reward.
Advertising and rewards are not guaranteed to be available.
An advertisement may be unavailable because of:
Your region;
Device or operating-system configuration;
Internet or network conditions;
Privacy or consent choices;
Advertising inventory;
Advertising-provider restrictions;
Security or fraud-prevention checks;
Service outages;
Legal or regulatory restrictions;
Technical errors;
Other operational conditions.
Sumri is not required to provide a substitute reward merely because no advertisement is available.
Ad-funded Study Kit and Ask rewards:
Have no cash value;
Are not money, currency, stored value, or a financial asset;
Cannot be sold;
Cannot be transferred between accounts;
Cannot be exchanged;
Cannot be withdrawn;
Cannot be redeemed for cash;
Cannot be refunded for money;
Cannot be accumulated beyond the applicable balance cap.
Ad-funded rewards may be withheld, cancelled, reversed, restricted, or removed where they were obtained or attempted to be obtained through:
Fraud;
Manipulation;
Replay;
Duplication;
Automation;
Modified software;
Abuse;
Circumvention;
Verification error;
Violation of these Terms.
Sumri may prospectively change Free-With-Ads:
Eligibility;
Reward ratios;
Earning limits;
Balance limits;
Supported features;
Availability;
Advertising providers;
Security requirements;
Verification methods.
We may make such changes where reasonably necessary for:
Operating costs;
Advertising-market conditions;
Security;
Fraud prevention;
Service sustainability;
Legal or regulatory compliance;
Platform requirements;
Technical or operational reasons.
Where a change is material and applicable law requires notice or consent, we will provide the required notice or consent mechanism.
Existing paid entitlements remain subject to the purchase terms applicable to those entitlements and mandatory consumer-protection rights.
Sumri may also offer promotions or temporary promotional access from time to time.
Any promotion may be subject to additional:
Eligibility rules;
Duration limits;
Usage restrictions;
Geographic restrictions;
Promotional terms.
We may prospectively modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue free access, Free-With-Ads availability, promotional offers, plan availability, or future usage limits, subject to applicable law, Google Play requirements, and existing paid entitlements that must be honored.
We do not guarantee that a particular free allowance, Free-With-Ads reward ratio, promotional offer, plan, or price will remain available indefinitely.
Sumri and its licensors own all rights, title, and interest in and to the App, including:
Software;
Source code;
Object code;
User interface;
Visual design;
App layout;
Features;
Workflows;
Brand elements;
Logos;
Names;
Icons;
Graphics;
Databases;
Documentation;
Algorithms;
System design;
Legal and policy documents;
Other proprietary materials.
Except for the limited right to use the App under these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.
You must not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, rent, sublicense, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of Sumri unless expressly permitted by law or by written permission from us.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to download, install, and use Sumri for personal study-support purposes.
This license does not allow you to:
Resell the App;
Use the App for unauthorized commercial purposes;
Modify or reverse-engineer the App except where applicable law expressly permits it;
Use the App to operate a competing service;
Use the App in violation of these Terms or applicable law.
We may revoke this license if you materially violate these Terms, subject to applicable law.
Sumri relies on third-party services, platforms, APIs, SDKs, authentication providers, and infrastructure to provide certain functions.
Current services may include:
Firebase Authentication: For Sumri account creation, email-and-password authentication, Google authentication, password reset, session management, account security, and related account functions;
Sign in with Google: As an optional authentication method allowing eligible users to authenticate their Sumri account using their Google Account;
Google Play Billing: For paid plans, subscription purchases, prepaid plans, and billing-related processing;
Google ML Kit: For on-device text recognition;
Google Gemini API: For Study Kit generation and related AI-processing features;
Firebase and Google Cloud: For backend functions, data storage and synchronization, document processing and storage, operational logging and monitoring, security, and infrastructure;
Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK: For optional advertising, including rewarded advertisements, ad delivery, measurement, reporting, security, fraud prevention, and related advertising functions;
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): For applicable advertising consent, privacy messaging, and privacy-choice management;
Participating advertising partners: Where made available through Google AdMob for eligible advertising delivery, measurement, reporting, personalization where permitted, security, and related advertising functions.
These third-party services may have their own:
Terms;
Privacy policies;
Service limitations;
Eligibility rules;
Authentication requirements;
Advertising rules;
Security systems;
Availability conditions.
Your use of Sumri may therefore also be affected by applicable third-party terms and policies.
When you choose Sign in with Google, Google and Firebase may independently process authentication-related information in accordance with their applicable terms and privacy practices.
We are not responsible for third-party outages, authentication failures, account restrictions, errors, changes, policies, advertising inventory, decisions, or actions except to the extent applicable law provides otherwise.
We aim to provide a reliable service, but we do not guarantee that Sumri will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or compatible with every device or operating system.
The App may be affected by:
Internet connectivity;
Device limitations;
Android system changes;
Google Play services;
Firebase Authentication availability;
Sign in with Google availability or Google Account conditions;
Third-party APIs;
AI model availability;
Cloud-service downtime;
Advertising inventory or ad-network availability;
Advertising consent or privacy restrictions;
Advertising-provider eligibility, security, fraud-prevention, or verification systems;
Maintenance;
Bugs or technical errors;
Security incidents;
Legal or policy changes.
We may update, modify, suspend, restrict, discontinue, or remove features of Sumri where reasonably necessary, subject to applicable law and any existing paid entitlement or consumer right that must be honored.
We may release updates, patches, bug fixes, improvements, or new versions of Sumri.
Some updates may be required for:
Security;
Compatibility;
Authentication;
Legal compliance;
Privacy compliance;
Advertising compliance;
Continued use of the App.
If you do not install a required update, some features may not work properly or an outdated version may no longer be supported.
Where technically available, Sumri may notify you in the App when an update is available or when a minimum supported version is required.
We are not responsible for issues caused by unsupported or outdated versions of the App to the extent permitted by applicable law.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to Sumri if we reasonably believe that:
You violated these Terms;
You misused the App;
You engaged in academic misconduct through the App;
You attempted to bypass payment or usage limits;
You attempted to fraudulently obtain, duplicate, replay, automate, manipulate, or bypass rewarded-ad verification or Free-With-Ads limits;
Your account was used fraudulently or unlawfully;
You attempted to circumvent authentication, account-security, or access controls;
Your use creates material risk for Sumri, advertisers, other users, third parties, or service providers;
We are required to do so by law, court order, regulator, platform policy, or security necessity.
We may also:
Withhold an unverified reward;
Reverse an invalid reward;
Restrict Free-With-Ads access;
Block repeated or fraudulent reward attempts;
where reasonably necessary to protect Sumri or its advertising and service infrastructure.
You may stop using Sumri at any time.
If you created a Sumri account, you can permanently delete your account from the Account Deletion area inside the Sumri App.
You may also request account and associated-data deletion outside the App through Sumri’s official Account Deletion page or by contacting us at:
support@sumriapp.com
Deleting or uninstalling the App from your device does not automatically delete your Sumri account or associated remote account data.
Deleting your Sumri account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription.
If you have Monthly or Yearly Premium, you must separately manage or cancel the recurring subscription through your Google Play account.
Permanent account deletion may permanently remove unused ad-funded Study Kit or Ask balances associated with the account.
Ad-funded rewards cannot be transferred to another account or redeemed for money before or after account deletion.
Permanent account deletion and associated-data deletion are handled as described in our Privacy Policy and Account Deletion page.
If you use Sign in with Google, deleting your Sumri account deletes the applicable Sumri account and associated Sumri data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Account Deletion process.
Deleting your Sumri account does not delete your Google Account, Gmail, Google Drive, or other data independently maintained by Google.
Where available, you may separately remove or revoke Sumri’s connection through your Google Account settings.
Revoking Sumri’s Google authentication access or disconnecting Sumri from your Google Account does not necessarily delete your Sumri account or associated Sumri data.
If you want your Sumri account permanently deleted, you must use Sumri’s account-deletion process.
Account Deletion URL:

Applicable US-state privacy choices may also be presented through Google’s privacy messaging interface.
Where applicable, users who authenticate with Google may also manage certain Google Account connections or permissions through their Google Account settings. Those controls are separate from Sumri’s account-deletion process.
To exercise other privacy rights, contact us at:

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
However, if you are a consumer located outside Nigeria, you may also have mandatory consumer-protection rights under the laws of your country or region.
Nothing in these Terms removes those mandatory rights.
If you have a concern or dispute about Sumri, you agree to contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
Please contact us at:
support@sumriapp.com
If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, the dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts of Nigeria, unless mandatory law in your jurisdiction gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
We may update these Terms from time to time.
