This page explains how users can request deletion of their Sumri account and associated data.
Sumri is an AI-powered study companion operated by Sumri Learning Innovations, a registered business name in Nigeria.
Sumri allows eligible users to create an account and authenticate using supported methods, including email-and-password authentication and Sign in with Google, to access features such as Study Kit generation, saved preferences, saved Library items, Ask, optional Free-With-Ads functionality, and paid access where applicable.
If you want to delete your Sumri account and associated account data, please follow the instructions below.
You may request deletion of your Sumri account outside the App by contacting us at:
Email: support@sumriapp.com
When sending your request, please use the subject line:
Account Deletion Request — Sumri
In your message, please include:
The email address linked to your Sumri account;
A clear statement that you want your Sumri account and associated data deleted;
Any additional information reasonably necessary to help us identify your account.
This applies whether you created or access your Sumri account using:
Email and password; or
Sign in with Google.
For your security, we may ask you to verify that you are the owner of the account before completing an external deletion request.
We will not ask you to send us your Google Account password or your Sumri password by email.
You can permanently delete your Sumri account from the Account Deletion area inside the Sumri App.
Follow the on-screen instructions and confirm that you understand the deletion is permanent.
Where Sumri requires recent authentication or identity verification before deletion, complete the authentication or verification step presented by the App.
The verification method may depend on how you authenticate with Sumri. For example, an email-and-password user may be asked to authenticate using their Sumri credentials, while a user who accesses Sumri through Google may be required to complete an appropriate Google authentication step.
After successful verification, Sumri will process permanent deletion of your account and associated account data, subject to the limited lawful-retention exceptions described in Section 7 below.
You may also request account and associated-data deletion outside the App by emailing:
support@sumriapp.com
Use the subject line:
Account Deletion Request — Sumri
Deleting or uninstalling the Sumri App without completing account deletion does not automatically delete your Sumri account.
If you created or access your Sumri account using Sign in with Google, you may still permanently delete your Sumri account using the same account-deletion options described on this page.
Deleting your Sumri account will remove the applicable Sumri account and associated Sumri-controlled account data, subject to the limited retention exceptions described below.
Deleting your Sumri account does not delete your Google Account.
It does not delete your:
Gmail account;
Google Drive files;
Google Photos;
Google contacts;
Google Play account;
Other Google services or information independently controlled by Google.
Where applicable, you may separately manage or revoke Sumri’s connection through your Google Account settings.
However, revoking Sumri’s access or disconnecting Sumri from your Google Account is not the same as deleting your Sumri account.
If you revoke the Google connection without using Sumri’s account-deletion process, your Sumri account and associated Sumri data may continue to exist.
If you want your Sumri account and associated Sumri-controlled data permanently deleted, use the in-app deletion process or submit an external deletion request as described on this page.
Sumri does not receive or store your Google Account password.
When account deletion is successfully completed, Sumri permanently deletes the applicable Sumri account and associated Sumri-controlled account data, except for limited records that may lawfully or legitimately need to be retained for security, fraud prevention, billing verification, advertising-reward verification, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or similar purposes described in Section 7.
Deleted account-related data may include, where applicable:
Sumri account profile information;
Firebase Authentication account records;
Email address associated with the Sumri account;
Sumri/Firebase account identifier;
Google authentication-provider linkage associated with the Sumri account;
Authentication-provider identifiers maintained as part of the Sumri authentication record;
Name or display name associated with the Sumri account;
Profile-photo URL or related profile information received through an authentication provider, where stored by Sumri or Firebase Authentication;
Account-linked source documents and document workspaces;
Account-linked AI usage and control records;
Premium entitlement and purchase-token user linkages;
Cloud-synchronized Study Kits associated with your account;
Completed Ask histories associated with your cloud account;
Account-linked Cloud Library information;
Account-linked preferences or state stored remotely;
Pending account-linked generation or Ask data where applicable;
Unused ad-funded Study Kit credits associated with the account;
Unused ad-funded Ask credits associated with the account;
Account-linked Free-With-Ads reward balances and usage state, subject to any limited records that must be retained for the purposes described in Section 7.
A minimal deletion-compliance record may be retained where reasonably necessary to demonstrate that the deletion request was completed.
Where possible, such a record will be limited or non-identifying and will not be used to recreate the deleted account.
Information stored only on a particular device cannot necessarily be remotely erased by an external email deletion request.
For example, locally stored Study Kits, cached information, preferences, or other local App data may remain on a device until they are cleared through Sumri, Android settings, or by uninstalling the App.
See Section 5 below for more information.
Completing permanent account deletion inside the Sumri App may also clear applicable Sumri account-related local data from the device on which the deletion is completed.
Some Sumri information may be stored locally on your device, including:
Saved Study Kits;
App preferences;
Cached content;
Search or sorting preferences;
Recently opened items;
Pinned or favorite items;
Local Ask or Study Kit state where applicable;
Local account-related state.
You can also remove locally stored Sumri data by:
Deleting saved Study Kits inside the App, where available;
Clearing Sumri’s App storage from your Android device settings;
Uninstalling the Sumri App from your device.
Please note that deleting local device data does not automatically delete your Sumri account or account-related information stored remotely.
Likewise, an external account-deletion request may delete your remote Sumri account and associated server-side data without being able to erase information that remains only on a device that is not being accessed as part of the deletion process.
To permanently delete your Sumri account and associated remote account data, use the in-app Account Deletion flow described in Section 2 or submit an external deletion request using the instructions on this page.
If you have an active Sumri Premium subscription through Google Play, deleting your Sumri account does not automatically cancel your Google Play subscription.
You must cancel an active recurring subscription directly through your Google Play account.
To manage or cancel your subscription, go to:
Google Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Sumri → Cancel subscription
If you delete your Sumri account without cancelling an active Google Play subscription, Google Play may continue to manage and bill the subscription according to Google Play’s subscription and billing policies.
Deleting your Sumri account may also result in loss of access to paid entitlements associated with that Sumri account.
If the Sumri account to which a paid entitlement was linked has been permanently deleted, restoration or reassociation of that entitlement may be limited by Sumri’s applicable billing, account, and Google Play verification rules.
Account deletion does not entitle you to a refund except where a refund or other remedy is required under Google Play policies or applicable consumer-protection law.
Deleting a Sumri account that uses Sign in with Google also does not delete or cancel your Google Play account or other purchases independently maintained by Google.
After account deletion, we may retain limited information where reasonably necessary or legally permitted for purposes including:
Security and fraud prevention;
Billing and payment verification;
Subscription entitlement history;
Legal compliance;
Tax, accounting, or audit obligations;
Dispute resolution;
Enforcement of our Terms of Use;
Prevention of abuse, misuse, or unauthorized access;
Compliance with Google Play, authentication-provider, advertising-provider, payment, or platform requirements;
Verification of rewarded-ad events;
Detection or prevention of duplicated, replayed, manipulated, automated, or fraudulent advertising rewards;
Investigation of Free-With-Ads abuse or security incidents;
Resolution of advertising or reward-related disputes;
Documentation that an account-deletion request was completed.
Limited rewarded-ad verification, transaction, billing, anti-fraud, security, authentication-security, or abuse-prevention records may therefore remain after account deletion where retention is reasonably necessary for these purposes.
Such retained information is not intended to restore the deleted Sumri account or provide continued access to deleted Study Kits, Ask histories, Cloud Library data, or other deleted account content.
Where retained information is no longer necessary, we will delete, anonymize, or securely restrict it in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy.
Information independently controlled by Google or another third-party service provider is subject to that provider’s own retention, deletion, privacy, and legal obligations.
Deleting your Sumri account does not require Google or another independent provider to delete information that it lawfully controls independently of Sumri.
We aim to review and process verified account-deletion requests within a reasonable period.
Where specific privacy laws apply, we will respond within the time required by those laws.
For example, eligible privacy requests under certain US state laws may require a response within a specified statutory period, subject to extensions permitted by applicable law.
If we need additional information to verify your identity or process your request, we may contact you using the email address provided in your request.
The time needed to complete an external deletion request may depend on:
Identity verification;
Authentication method;
Account status;
Security review;
Applicable law;
Technical processing requirements;
Lawful-retention obligations.
Deleting your Sumri account may result in permanent loss of access to:
Your Sumri account profile;
Saved Study Kits linked to your account;
Cloud-synchronized Study Kits;
Completed Ask history associated with your account;
Saved preferences linked to your account;
Account-linked Cloud Library information;
Premium or other paid features connected to your Sumri account, where applicable;
Account-based history or settings;
Unused ad-funded Study Kit credits;
Unused ad-funded Ask credits;
Other Free-With-Ads reward balances or account-linked reward state.
Once account deletion has been completed, deleted Sumri account data may not be recoverable.
Ad-funded Study Kit and Ask rewards have no cash value.
They cannot be:
Sold;
Transferred to another account;
Exchanged;
Withdrawn;
Redeemed for money;
Refunded for cash.
Deleting your account does not create a right to payment, refund, or compensation for unused ad-funded rewards.
Account deletion may not remove information that has already been lawfully anonymized, aggregated, or retained where lawful retention is permitted or required.
Deleting a Google-authenticated Sumri account does not delete the underlying Google Account or information independently held by Google.
Deleting your Sumri account is separate from reviewing, changing, or withdrawing advertising privacy choices.
Where applicable, eligible users may review or change advertising privacy choices inside Sumri through:
Profile → Data & Privacy → Privacy Controls
Depending on your location and applicable law, Sumri may also display:
European advertising-consent choices;
US-state privacy choices;
“Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” or equivalent controls.
You may also have advertising or privacy controls available through Android, Google, or other applicable service-provider settings.
Changing an advertising privacy choice does not delete your Sumri account.
Likewise, deleting your Sumri account does not necessarily delete information independently controlled by Google or another advertising or service provider.
Third-party providers process and retain information according to their own privacy policies, legal obligations, and applicable privacy choices.
If you use Sign in with Google, you may have separate controls available through your Google Account for managing third-party connections or permissions.
Those controls are separate from Sumri’s account-deletion process.
For clarity:
Removing Sumri from your Google Account does not necessarily delete your Sumri account;
Deleting your Sumri account does not delete your Google Account;
Changing your Google password does not automatically delete your Sumri account;
Removing or revoking a Google connection may affect your ability to sign in through Google;
If you want Sumri-controlled account data deleted, you must use Sumri’s account-deletion process.
Sumri is designed as a study-support tool.
Users are responsible for ensuring that any notes, textbook pages, class materials, documents, public links, or other educational content they upload or process complies with:
Copyright rules;
School policies;
Academic-integrity requirements;
Applicable laws;
The rights of other people.
If your account-deletion request involves educational content uploaded or processed in violation of school rules, copyright rules, or another person’s rights, account deletion does not eliminate responsibility for your prior use of that material.
