The costs for Summer School 2026/27 are shown in the table below. You can attend Summer School either as a resident living in at our beautiful Waipuna Hotel & Conference Centre (accommodation and all meals except dinner on 1st Jan provided), or as a commuter (organising your own accommodation, meals and transport).
Junior Associate Members (JAMs), aged 8-19, attend Summer School at a reduced cost - see details below. This year we would love to encourage JAMs to attend our school, so please pass the message onto any younger members in your clubs and communities.
Payment plans of 5x instalments are available. All prices shown below are per person. Each person attending Summer School must fill out the registration form and pay their fees (including deposit) individually.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
All rooms contain two queen beds. Our standard resident option is two people to a room.
This year, we are also offering a more budget-friendly Trio option: three people to a room, at a discounted price per person shown below. In this case, two of the members will share a queen bed. Hotel rules dictate that we are not allowed four adults to a room.
Please note that if you select this option on your registration form, you must already have a group of three prepared who are all attending Summer School and all happy to room together. If something falls through with your group and your group cannot be rearranged, you may be asked to pay the difference up to a Resident Standard price.
The RSCDS NZ Branch offers a number of scholarships to attend Summer School for:
adult dancers
musicians
aspiring teachers
youth (both under 18 and 18-24)
families
The closing date for applications is 30 September 2026. We highly recommend applying for NZ Branch Scholarships - or encouraging dancers in your club to apply - as they are a wonderful method of financial assistance. All eligible applicants have an equal chance of success, as scholarship recipients are drawn randomly.
We sometimes organise community billeting for those who need or can offer accommodation. Generally, those who register as commuters for Summer School organise their own accommodation, but billeting can be a more affordable alternative for those in the community who need it, and can also provide companionship and friendship for the host. Please let us know on your registration form if you can host a fellow commuter locally for Summer School, or if you would like to be billeted if the opportunity arises.
Note that if you are offering to host, we will always allow you to choose the people you would like to host before getting in contact with them. If you are requesting a billet, there are no guarantees that the request will be successful, but we will do our best.
Generally money is not exchanged for billeting, although billets are encouraged to do something to thank the host (doing the dishes etc). Billets are expected to contribute financially towards or organise their own food and transport, and follow their host's house rules.
If you are a non-dancing musician and would like to register for the Musicians' Course ONLY (six afternoons plus final evening), the cost is $300. Please use the separate registration form below instead.
