Yes, however, please note that the Summer Music Academy is not for beginner instrumentalists. If brand new to band or orchestra, it is necessary to attend a few start-up lessons with a private teacher prior to attending this program. We recommend that students are able to produce proper tone and are able to play at least one basic scale. Older students may also choose to participate in the Intermediate Ensemble to work slowly at their own pace.
Absolutely! Each week contains expertly crafted lesson plans that are not dependent upon what occurred in class the previous week. Your child can join in at the start of any week offered at the Summer Music Academy!
Yes! However, do not add weeks independently in community pass because you will not benefit from the multiple week savings. The Hillsborough Recreation Department can do this for you over the phone or stop over to their office in person. This is important to maximize your savings. There is a built-in discount for families who attend multiple weeks. The more weeks your child attends, the greater the savings! The Hillsborough Recreation Department phone number is (908) 369-4832.
She will need to bring just her stick bag with drumsticks and mallets that she used during the school year. She will also need to bring the required books on the Hillsborough Recreation Summer Music Academy supply list.
Do not worry! Make sure that you do order them, however, if they do not arrive in time, there will be one extra copy for each instrument in the classroom to be used for this purpose.
You can buy or order them at any music store or online (Amazon, JW Pepper, etc.) Please be certain that the titles and authors match the description provided on the supply page. The links on the supply page will direct you to the JW Pepper music site so that you are able to see what the specific book LOOKS like!
Please email the Summer Music Academy Program Director - Mrs. Nancy Ciacciarelli at summermusicacademy08844@gmail.com You will receive a prompt response!
