Summer 2023 Student Availability: June 27-August 18
January/February: Initial presentation of summer options to first year class (with RCE) and to AHEC Scholars including Rural and Urban Health Pathways
January-March: If you would like to participate in the SCHA, talk to a member of the SCHA team (Haley, Cragin, Marien, McAdoo) to decide on a plan for placement before new extended deadline of April 7. Students can access the current list on Sharepoint to learn more about placement opportunities developed in collaboration with community partners, and to see whether students have already been matched with openings.
If you are interested in any of the listed opportunities, we ask you to begin with an email to Dr. Haley, who will share details/materials and connect you with the right person at the partner site for further discussion.
Thursday, March 31***, 5:00 pm: Student commitment to program participation must be confirmed & on the sharepoint list to qualify for funding through OUME. ***EDIT 3/29/23: Deadline has been EXTENDED to APRIL 7. *** Students on the final list will be sent Outlook invitations to all the other scheduled events in early May.
Wednesday, May 26 , 2:00 pm: RCE/ SCHA Orientation meeting (virtual)
Tuesday, June 27: Start of official placement period.
Friday, June 30 , 1:00 pm: Progress and reflection meeting (aka OUME"small group" meeting) by zoom
July 13, 12:30-2pm, In-person cohort-building session for any community-engaged students. To be held at a community site TBD. Dr. McAdoo will drive in to join us.
Monday, Aug 1, noon: first draft of poster due
Monday, Aug 1 , 4-6:00 pm: Peer review of poster drafts and opportunity to try out presentation scripts (details will be finalized in early July)
Friday, August 11: Poster must be uploaded to OUME per direction of Mirela Skaka
Friday, August 18: OUME Summer Program Online Poster Session goes live
We are working together with the Research, Curriculum and Community Exploration (RCCE) programs; as they announce relevant details, we will include them here.
Posters will be due August 11, and the session will go live on August 18, 2023
