I've listed community-health-relevant meetings below.  I also want to track things like concerts in the park, which reduce isolation and encourage physical activity.

June 11, Art in the Park at Elm Park and Music in Bloom at Tower Hill.

June 17, 12-8pm, Juneteenth Black Heritage Festival, Institute Park. Contact Dr. Haley if you want to help staff the UMass Chan table. POSTPONED TO JULY 1.

June 17, 8:30-2 Multicultural Women's Health Summit. Multipurpose Room, Sherman Center.

June 20. World Refugee Day. Celebrate with UMass Chan at the Thomas Zand Memorial Lecture (noon) with Dr. Crista Johnson-Agbakwu, Director of the new UMass Chan Collaborative for Health Equity.  She'll meet with learners in the early afternoon, then we'll have a community celebration 3-5pm in the Cube with a new award presented to a local refugee-serving organization and two scholarships given to allow students to attend a global health conference.  

June 24. ACE African Children's Education Summer Festival,  12:30-4pm, 51 Gage St. Worcester. 

June 24, 9am-7pm Black Music Festival, City Hall.

July 2023

July 1: Juneteenth Commemoration in Institute Park, noon-8pm.  (Rain date postponed from June 20) Join me at the UMass Chan table and help promote our pipeline activities. 

July 12. Courageous Conversations Series at the Village, 6-7:30 pm. 4 King St. 

July 13, 12:30-2:00  Community-Engaged Cohort Building. Join us for an in-person medical-student centered session, sharing stories of our summer community-engaged work and learning about a community partner. Site TBD. (Suggestions welcome to Dr. Haley)

July 29, 11am-3pm: multi-site Day of Hope, a one day church-based give-away event that "catalyzes change, ignites hope, and builds connection in the communities of Worcester. On this day over 1,200 people are served with FREE haircuts, food, groceries, family and kids activities."

August 2023

August 5: Worcester African Festival from MA Organization of African Descendents

August 5: Green Hill Neighborhood Assoc Community Picnic in Grant Square Park, 12-5.

August 5: Backpack giveaway with 508 Bike Life. Fuller Family Park. 

August 11-13: Worcester World Cup, Foley Stadium

August 23, 3:15-5pm. Social Determinants of Health Poster Session, with community invited and a talk from Dr. Crista Johnson-Agbakwu.
