COFFEE OF THE DAY!
It turns out that while a bunch of us drink tea during the day, we are committed coffee drinkers. This will require a partnership to be successful. Please remember to bring your favorite coffee or tea to share with everyone. Each day, two official barista partners will make their favorites! If you need something in particular to make your coffee, please let Gillian know (I’ll try to bring whatever apparatus you might need if I have it!). You can set up whatever you want. Just check in with your partner:
Our Barista Makers Will be:
Monday: Bruna & Alex
Tuesday: Mona & Gillian, Vladimir
Wednesday: Marta & Bulanda
It will be nice to embrace our global and quirky nature by creating gift bags where we each contribute something from where we live or where we are from. Don’t overthink it - a coaster, a jar of salt, a magnet, some local chocolates, a handmade bookmark - you get the idea! A friendly reminder to bring 7 small gifts for everyone from your country up to $5 per item (a little overage is fine). Bring the items and submit your receipt!. Please avoid giving liquids to make traveling easier.
Lunch is the main meal of the day in Spain. You can typically expect a hearty multi-course meal, with dinner being lighter and often in the form of shared plates called raciones. This might be what you think of as tapas (and some menus will call them that, but those tend to be smaller portions or snacks that come with drinks).
We will be making a supermarket run on Sunday to get us stocked with breakfast supplies, snacks, and beverages. We will have what people asked for in the initial survey. For breakfasts it will be self-serve (though feel free to cook with someone or offer to pop some extra toast in the toaster!). We will have snacks throughout the day. Lunches and two of our dinners will be a combination of in town and catered.
For two dinners (Monday and Tuesday) we will be cooking for ourselves. Please consult with your team members about what you would like to cook for your meal and get a plan together. You’ll go into town to shop (no this is not Top Chef - it won’t be at Whole Foods and you won’t be competing!). When planning your meals please know we do have a few pescatarians. Don’t get too elaborate. Think of this as a time to bond in a small group in a casual way. Whoever doesn’t cook does the dishes!
