The moon sparkled and glowed as the fireflies around me were moving like a space lost balloon.
“But who’d see the sun on a night of countless stars?", I asked myself.
I heard the voice again. The voice with the crumpled edges that comes to me from nothingness. “Don’t you think this beautiful sky is a graveyard of stars?”, She murmured in an undertone.
I looked behind as her words were flaunting with the glowing touch of the fireflies.
“You don’t exist. You cannot,” I found myself mumbling. "You’re a novel I’ve vowed myself never to read again.”
“You haven’t changed a little,” she smiled as the gentle fingertips wallowed on piano keys. "You’ve built an invincible fortress around your emotions that you yourself are unable to see them anymore.”
I went back right inside my mind.
“You cannot turn love on and off like a switch. All you can do is to wall it off. One brick at a time. “
“You rely too much on reasons honey,” she sat next to me, “And end up not relying enough on feelings.”
Her raven hair whipped about her serene face as the wind dived past her and took cover behind the nearby hills of darkness. Then there was this eternal silence as we didn’t talk or look at each other.
We were looking at the same sky together. Every breath was killing me patiently. So little. How little? Brief, small? And now inside me, there can never be stars…
