Bracu Mongol Tori is a next-generation Mars rover developed by a student team from BRAC University in Bangladesh. The rover was specifically designed for the purpose of competing at the prestigious Mars rover competition known as the University Rover Challenge (URC). The competition is organized by the Mars Society and aims to encourage university-level students to design and build a rover that would be useful for early explorers on Mars.
Bracu Mongol Tori has participated in the rover challenges series, including the URC and Indian Rover Challenge (IRC). In 2020, the rover ranked 3rd in the University Rover Challenge. The development of Mongol Tori aims to contribute to the vision of colonizing the Red Planet by utilizing the technologies of the 21st century.
NASA's Astrobee robot is a free-flying robotic system that helps astronauts reduce the time spent on routine duties, allowing them to focus more on things that only humans can do. The Kibo Robot Programming Challenge (Kibo-RPC) is an educational program in which students solve various problems by programming free-flying robots, including Astrobee, in the International Space Station (ISS). The Kibo-RPC is hosted by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in cooperation with NASA. In the Kibo-RPC, participants create their own program for moving Astrobee to designated locations in the ISS. The final round of the Kibo-RPC is streamed live on YouTube and judged based on JAXA's scoring factors and game rules. There is a NASA Astrobee Robot Simulator available on GitHub that contains ROS Noetic and the environment to simulate the NASA Astrobee robot in the Japanese Kibo Module.
The Bracu Kilo Flight team participated in the International Planetary Aerial Systems Challenge (IPAS) 2021, which is an annual competition organized by the Mars Society South Asia. The competition challenges teams to carefully plan each subsystem of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for planetary exploration. The competition is designed for students to explore their minds and spark innovative designs within practical implementable limits for the human race. The team is sponsored by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society BRACU Student Branch Chapter to Competing in the International Planetary Aerial Systems (IPAS) Challenge 2021.
DIU Kitti is an autonomous delivery robot with six wheels, inspired by the Amazon Scout and Starship Technologies' delivery robots. It is designed to provide efficient and convenient last-mile deliveries for various goods, including food and packages. DIU Kiti has the capabilities for autonomous traversal in both indoor and outdoor environments. It localises and maps itself on the surrounding environment from its onboard sensors. It runs on ROS Navigation Stack. DIU Kitti is part of a growing trend in autonomous delivery robots. As technology continues to advance and regulations become more favorable, the future of DIU Kitti and similar delivery robots looks promising in providing a sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional delivery methods.
