AI Robotics Research Engineer at BRAC University Technical Advisor, BRACU Mongol-Tori & BRACU Duburi
At Brac University, Suhail Haque Rafi works as a Research Engineer of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. He is the present Technical Advisor of the BRACU Mongol-Tori Mars Rover AMR as well as the BRACU Duburi Underwater Robot AUV. In 2025, the Mongol-Tori team made a comeback in the University Rover Challenge coming back from from 23rd position in 2024 to 8th place in 2025. He was the Technical Advisor of that team.
Suhail Rafi did his Bachelor of Science from the same university. His undergraduate studies were in Computer Science. During the span of his undergrad life, he was actively involved in significant projects of the university, such as the University Mars Rover, the IEEE RAS Mars Drone Design, etc. It was during this time that he got involved in the development of the autonomous application for NASA Astrobee Robots through the Kibo Robot Programming Challenge organized by JAXA, and in 2021, his team became the National Champions, followed by securing the Runner-Up spot in the International Round. His team was the first in the history of Bangladesh to deploy code at the International Space Station.
The following year, he led the University Mars Rover team to reach the Final Round of the prestigious University Rover Challenge held at the Mars Desert Research Station, in Utah, USA. His undergrad thesis involved Autonomous Precision Landing of UAV Digital Twins on Moving Platforms and Geospatial Data Analytics from UAV Imagery.
