· Volunteers: Room parents have reached out to volunteers mostly via Team Reach, some via email. There has been great feedback from volunteers willing to help. Some classes have an abundance of volunteers, and some have only a few. Some later volunteer sign ups may have missed the Halloween party sign up, but may be able to help with the Holiday party. Principal’s Report:
We had a great Veteran’s Day program with over 125 veterans that attended. Friday, the Barberton City Magicals group will perform The Emperor’s New Clothes as a reward for the PBIS Soar Program. We have Thanksgiving break coming up and then only 14 school days until Christmas break. December 11th, 5th graders will sing at the Wingfoot for the Suffield Community Christmas that is sponsored by Charlie’s Garage. December 17th, we will need some volunteers to cover the lunchroom supervision duties for the Staff Christmas Luncheon. December 19th will be the Holiday program for 2nd and 4th graders. 2nd grade program will be at 6:00 pm and 4th grade program will be at 7:00 pm. Classroom Holiday parties will be December 20th at 2:00 pm, then we are off until January 6th for break.
There is a new Benchmark Advance reading curriculum. Teachers all like it and the students are benefiting.
New business:
· Santa Shop: 12/9-12/13 We are in the thick of it now. Most of the shopping is done. Erin Roberts and Erin West did a complete inventory of all items this year. This will help determine any gaps that need filled and see what else is needed. It is getting harder to find items that fit in the $.25-$5.00 range. We may have to increase prices next year. If we keep pricings down, we may have to get lower quality items. It is getting harder to find good deals. Shopping for the next year starts in January. There are a little over 4,000 items currently stocked. It sounds like a lot, but with 400 students, if each student buys 7 items, it will go quick. Still a bit of shopping to do. The Sign-Up Genius went out today. Set up will be Friday, December 6th, starting around 8:30 or 9:00. There was a large group to help last year finished quickly. Clean up is the following Friday after the make-up group that morning. Officers will have to get the cash box ready with changes and help with deposits. We will forego a Venmo option this year. It will just be easier to use cash or checks as that is a lot to track. Kelly Hurd will send out a sign-up form and shopping list the week prior to Santa Shop. Plant to help students/teachers work through which students brought money and help determine who needs help.
· Membership Drive: We are in the middle of the membership drive. Miss Kear’s class is currently in the lead. So far there are 134 PTA members. The class with the highest number of memberships will win a reward. Ice cream party?
· Canned Food Drive: Wraps up this week. The winning grade level will win a pizza party. Will need to determine which grade won and who will pick up the pizza. Need to find the best date from the teachers to have the pizza party.
· Book Fair: The library has always done the book fair. Which lasts 4-5 days in the library. The library staff would like to relinquish those duties. Can the PTA take over? Brimfield PTA takes care of this at their school. The PTA would stock the book fair and take money. There are generally two suppliers used and brings profit. Kris Baker will have those companies and all information needed. This would begin with the 2025 school year. The week of the book fair would be flexible. Will have to schedule for next year early. Kara Smith and Nicole Bowman have offered to co-chair this project.
· There will not be a December PTA meeting due to the holiday schedule.
The next meeting will be January 15th at 3:45 pm via Google Meets. The meeting link will be sent prior to the meeting.

Principal’s Report:
Coming up Friday is records day. Already half way through the school year! Report cards will come home on January 24th. Map testing is this week to track growth and review strengths and weaknesses. 100 day activities are beginning in February. Teachers will be sending home the classroom Valentine exchange list. Leadership team meeting is at the end of the month. Topic of Joy activities to come. Santa Shop was terrific! The students and staff really enjoyed it!
The teachers are so grateful to parents for the snack they have sent in to stock the staff lounge!
New business:
· Conference Dinner: Teachers and staff on 2/6. PTA to provide dinner. Cassie Geiger to organize.
· Santa Shop: Santa Shop was very successful this year! Changed up organization this year and that helped things flow better and allowed classes to ship a little longer. There was a lot of feedback on items for sales. Erin Roberts and Erin West did a great job shopping! Erin West has already been able to find some great deals on Christmas clearance. Overall PTA spent around $4,800.00 to replenish stock. We like to have around 4,000 items available for purchase. There were 400 students that shopped. Student averages were about 10 items purchased each. The Santa Shop forms gave an option to donate their change. This resulted in $360.00 received from families to help other students shop. PTA donated $380.00. There were a lot of very thoughtful kids that wanted to donate. We saw around $7,000.00 in profit. PTA bought some baskets and organization items to help. We did not have a lot of extra left over this year. Erin did a great job on inventory for everything. Erin West has one more year and Erin Roberts has 2 more years then will be passing the torch. It is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun!
There may be a need to increase the item amount for next year to $6.00 maximum for next year vs. $5.00 this year. It has been getting more difficult to find good quality items that fit into the $5.00 range. We don’t want to increase too much. Kara Smith motioned to increase the maximum gift amount to $6.00 items. All in attendance were for this increase, no one against.
· Sunshine Commitee: Discussed what this committee does. These are social dues for teachers and staff to cover gifts for items such as new babies, surgery, death in a staff members family. Principle gifts and other teacher/staff gifts. This also includes fun activities such a birthday treats and morale boosting activities each month for staff. Can the PTA increase their contribution to $300.00? Budget has already been set for 2025, so no changes can be made at this time. Can propose to add at the beginning of next school year. Could possible used extra funds from Special Projects. Will have to review other categories to see what fits. PTA would have to vote in at next budget review.
· PTA Membership Reward – January 21st. Dominique can get ice cream sandwiches or bows with sprinkles. What is the budget. Check for allergies. Dominique will coordinate with Mrs. Lawrence.
· Teacher Appreciation Week – May 5-9. Lunch ideas, no school on May 6th. Food has to be there and ready by 10:30. We can look into food trucks – Chipotle, Duma Food truck. Maybe try something other than pizza. Duma meat truck starts at $900.00, but may be generous and donate some. Other trucks start well over $1,000.00. Maybe we can try Deviti’s Italiam Market. Suggested by Tara, you can get a lot of food for a great price. Maybe look in to Mexican restaurant catering, Uncle Titos – may have a connection. Mrs. Bookman will reach out. Artisan Crafted Meadery may donate pizzas. $785.00 is left in the budget for the conference dinner and staff appreciation. Taco boxes may be an option from Titos Tacos. A&E Pizzeria was great as well. Cassie Geiger will organize.
· The next meeting will be February 11th at 3:45 pm via Google Meets. The meeting link will be sent prior to the meeting.
