Gandipet Welfare Society is a Hyderabad based NGO working towards Zero Waste. Its mission is to make Waste Management a way of life to protect the environment.
The organisation started several years ago by like minded citizens and is able to implement successful and sustainable waste management practices in several municipalities and villages in RR dist. The Society helps to setup and manage SWM units to process Wet, Dry and Reject waste from ULBs and villages.
As of today we are able to process 1,500 tonnes of municipal waste per month.
We are continuously encouraging other municipalities and villages to follow appropriate waste management methods. We conduct weekly cleanup drives around the Osmansagar and Himayatsagar reservoirs. In this endeavor we were able to collect and process several tonnes of garbage thrown into the water bodies.
We extended our services to Coonoor town in Nilgiris Tamilnadu in partnership with a local NGO, and manage the whole town’s municipal waste.
In 2020 we have taken another step towards saving the environment by reviving, rejuvenating and restoring a 300 year old Asif Jah period Stepwell at Bapughat, Hyderabad.
In 2022 -2023 we revived and restored another 300+ year old stepwell at Bansilalpet ( Secunderabad). The renovation was fully funded by the NGO.
In 2025 we revived the 900 year old Jaffer Bouli in Khammam.
The revival of Nagakunda stepwell at Sudi, Karnataka is in process now. It will be ready to be inaugurated by the December of 2025.
All revived stepwells are being maintained by the NGO.

The Water Literacy Foundation envisions India as a nation that efficiently uses water: a country where every individual can access their fundamental human right to water and where everyone preserves this resource by making the most of every available drop. This goal will be accomplished via a widespread initiative for “water literacy”—awareness of water challenges and conservation techniques.
Its goal is to find a harmony between water consumption and restoration by turning communities into Water Warriors, imparting essential knowledge of water-saving practices that motivate and foster a culture of water efficiency.
