I work in Experimental Plasma Physics, Focused Ion Beams, Matter Wave Generation from Ion Beams and Control, Ion Matter Interactions, and Physics of Nanoscale and Quantum Systems
Physics of plasmas confined in a dipole magnetic field - diffusion, particle and energy balance, electron energy distribution, plasma fluctuations, Electrical conductivity and current density profiles in a dipole plasma, Thermodynamics of dipole plasmas; Plasmas created at cryogenic temperatures (Cryo-plasmas) - collisional cooling in a cryo-plasma, disorder induced heating in strongly coupled plasmas; Matter waves from ion beams - Diffraction of cryo-plasma (ion) beams, Talbot arrangement for de Broglie waves and detection of small electric and magnetic fields; Focused ion beams - Nonlinear demagnification in plasma-based charged particle optics, capillary guiding beyond the self focusing limit, creation of quantum beams; Atmospheric pressure microplasmas - fluctuations and strong field effects, collisionally broadened ion cyclotron resonance; Ion matter interactions and atomically heterogeneous systems - applications of low energy ion beams for modifying electrical, optical and surface properties of matter; Nanoscale and quantum systems - field emission, electric field penetration through nano pores, ac voltage driven nano-gaps; More details in laboratory page.
