ZIMA is an advanced Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) developed by SubVision Robotics with a singular mission: to revolutionize hull cleaning in the maritime industry.
ZIMA uses UV-based technology to remove biofouling — the accumulation of algae, barnacles, and scum — from ship hulls. This process is typically time-consuming, environmentally harmful, and expensive. ZIMA offers a smarter alternative: a cost-effective, efficient, and eco-friendly solution that helps reduce drag, fuel consumption, and emissions for marine vessels.
The development of ZIMA is not just a technical endeavor — it’s a collaborative, real-world engineering challenge that includes:
Advanced mechanical design for modularity and maneuverability
Custom electrical systems and PCB integration
Sophisticated software control systems and user interfaces
Strategic business development and industry partnerships
At SubVision, we’re not just building a robot — we’re building a team, a mission, and a sustainable future for marine innovation.
We meet every Sunday from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at SFU Burnaby for in-person work sessions. This is when real progress happens — teams collaborate, problems get solved, and ZIMA comes to life.
We’re specifically looking for members who are willing to show up in person regularly and want to contribute hands-on. Whether you're building circuits, testing code, modeling parts, or supporting the team with media or logistics — being here matters.
Location: SFU Burnaby Campus
Time: Sundays, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM (weekly)
