In 2017, in celebration of their 10th year anniversary, the South Texas East Coasters created a $2,500 scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior from South Texas accepted to a Northeastern college or university in the fall. The scholarship is meant to honor the collective effort by South Texas families, educators, and community members, who made it possible for so many to expand their horizons and receive an education away from home. It is also a recognition of the determination and courage exhibited by former, current, and future South Texans willing to leave home to seek more educational opportunities.
