Thugs! was my first real foray into hawking funnybooks that I'd also helped co-create. Stephen Reid - of Fox Animation (Titan A.E., Anastasia) fame - worked for the same commercial education company I did during the dot com boom. If you remember the dot com boom at all - just prior to the bust - you know that a lot of people had a lot of time on their hands. Steve and I shared a mutual love of funnybooks so we decided to create one. 

Originally it was just going to be a six page gag book about two goons who got lucky and offed Batman and Robin. Ten books later, we're still trying to find the answer to the question "What Happens Next?" 

After a not-so-brief hiatus where we'd left the series at ten issues and no resolution, we decided it needed to be finished properly. Thing is we only have a limited number of the original issues in print, and Steve has found some success publishing his own comics as digests, so it made sense to bring the books back in that same format while also providing those two final issues that finish the majority of the dangling plot threads. 

This has always been a labor of love but it also had a pretty nice fanbase that always wanted to know when the next issue came out. That fanbase, of course, was fairly localized but with Kickstarter we think it's got a great chance to find a national audience. 

I mean...check out that cover by the amazing ALEX RONALD (2000 A.D., Titan Comics, Lady Death)! That alone should have you clicking the little QR Code to get on the reminder list or - if you're reading this after May 1st, 2025 - to actually back the campaign for the first issue.
