DfC Workshop 2.0 - Day 2
15th May, 2022
15th May, 2022
To learn to consider design from a birds-eye-view, in addition to designing details of products, students created Circular Flow Maps.
The afternoon started with a lecture by Dr Motoko Uchimaru, the CEO of Colourloop, on her research and practice toward circularity.
The participants spent the rest of the day re-working a circular flow map with the newly learned information from Dr Uchimaru.
Participants created Circular Flow Maps, a map of material, service and stakeholders of a circular business, based on the lecture and prototypes they created on Day 1.
A map focussing on "passing on" material.
A map about sharing within a community, such as a school.
This participant suggested a service to create re-useable packaging out of WFRP sheets.
This participant came up with many questions through the process of creating a circular map.
Dr. Motoko Uchimaru gave us an informative lecture about
1- the conception of her innovative idea to recycle waste clothing based on colour
2- the business model of her company colourloop and
3- the future steps she plans to take toward full circularity.
During the lecture and the Q&A session that followed, participants asked further questions about the WFRP sheets, business model and Dr Uchimaru's research and career.
Dr. Uchimaru brought many samples of materials she was newly developing to show to the participants.
With their newly acquired knowledge and motivation from Dr. Uchimaru, the participants were inspired to create another circular flow map as a team and plan for the exhibition, which was in 6 days.
