Postdoctoral Position; Streams, Rivers, and Estuaries (STRIVE) Lab; Baruch Institute of Coastal Ecology and Forest Science; Clemson University

 

Post-doc – DEI and Science: Salary: $53-55K/annually, plus benefits. The Streams, Rivers, and Estuaries (STRIVE) Laboratory (www.strivelab.science) at Clemson University’s Baruch Institute of Coastal Ecology and Forest Science (BICEFS; http://www.clemson.edu/baruch/) seeks a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on a newly NSF-funded project that seeks to embed diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and justice into the core of the Consortium of Aquatic Science Societies. The incumbent will be expected to contribute to multiple aspects of this collaborative award, but will primarily focus on developing and supporting programming to serve members of underrepresented groups. This DEI work will be blended with primary research on tidal creek food webs under a changing climate. The incumbent will be primarily mentored by Dr. Mažeika Patricio Sulliván (Clemson University) but will also be mentored by Dr. Robin Kodner of Western Washington University. Aquatic Ecology Post-doc: Salary: $53-55K/annually, plus benefits. The Streams, Rivers, and Estuaries (STRIVE) Laboratory (www.strivelab.science) at Clemson University’s Baruch Institute of Coastal Ecology and Forest Science (BICEFS; http://www.clemson.edu/baruch/) seeks a broadly-trained Post-Doctoral Research Associate. The incumbent will be expected to contribute to multiple research efforts on the ecology and conservation of watersheds, wetlands, and coasts including federally funded projects related to nutrient enrichment, antimicrobial resistant bacteria, wetland conservation, and food-web dynamics. The incumbent will lead and participate in field, experimental (e.g., mesocosms), and lab work. In addition, they will be expected to lead analysis of data as well as the preparation of reports, articles, and associated project deliverables. Strong statistical and programming skills, preferably with R, are required. Interest in contributing to initiatives to broader participation in science is highly desirable. PhD Position in Wetland Science: The Streams, Rivers, and Estuaries (STRIVE) Laboratory at Clemson University’s Belle W. Baruch Institute of Coastal Ecology and Forest Science is seeking a PhD student to work on a newly funded NOAA-NIDIS project. Working with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe of northern Idaho, this effort focuses on the potential for restored riverine/floodplain wetlands to mitigate the effects of drought and to enhance tribal beneficial uses. As a student in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation, the individual will be based at Clemson University but will travel to the Coeur d’Alene Reservation for fieldwork and project collaboration. Applicants must have completed and defended their MSc by August 2023 and be available for fieldwork starting June 2023. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, C.V.
