Scientific Services

The protein chemistry laboratory of NCSR Demokritos, offers specialised custom scientific services to academic and industry labs in the following areas:

• Production and purification of recombinant proteins in bacterial, insect (baculovirus driven) or mammalian expression systems
• Design and construction of plasmid vectors
• Construction of viral vectors (baculovirus) for protein expression
• Construction of stably transfected cell lines for protein expression
• Computational modelling services for protein structure prediction and analysis, molecular dynamics, small molecule docking, in silico drug design and virtual library screening

Proteins previously expressed in the laboratory include: C5a anaphylatoxin, Extracellular fibrinogen-binding protein (Efb), polyA-binding Protein (PABP), M2 proton channel, Extracellular Adherence Protein (Eap), Endoplasmic Reticulum amino peptidase 1 (ERAP1, AP-PILS, ALAP), Endoplasmic Reticulum amino peptidase 2 (ERAP2, A-RAP), Insulin Regulated Aminopeptidase / Placental Leucine Aminopeptidase (IRAP, PLAP, oxytocinase)
