The production team is an autonomous group of individuals that work under the supervision of the society's board to handle all production-related aspects of the society. Our production team brings together over 30 years of combined experience in musical theatre, covering a range of disciplines including performance, artistic direction, and production design and management.
We are dedicated to crafting captivating and immersive experiences, blending the artistry of acting, directing, set design, lighting, sound, and costume to bring stories to life on stage.

Our production team is organised into six main departments being overseen by production management:
Production Management & Governance
Drama & Direction
Music & Musical Direction
Backstage & Stage Management
Dance & Choreography
Art & Design
Technical
Each department includes a wide range of roles — from entry-level positions like stage crew and assistants, to creative roles such as designers and artists, all the way up to departmental directors.
No matter your experience or interests, there's a place for everyone to get involved and contribute.
If you like what you've read and would like to join our production team then let us know! Please make sure to familiarise yourself with the society's code of conduct (find in the "home" tab), as well as the most up to date edition of our production framework to ensure you know what the roles, responsibilities and expectations are for all of the roles on the production team.
The Senior Production Team (SPT) is usually appointed shortly after the new board takes office, typically around July. Like board positions, those wishing to join the SPT are generally expected to have been involved with the society for at least one full semester.
However, we also offer Associate* roles, which are typically advertised between August and September. These positions provide a fantastic opportunity for freshers or newer members to get involved in the production side of SMTS, especially for those who may not be interested in performing onstage.
We have a wide range of departments and roles available to suit all skill levels, experiences, and areas of interest. Whether you're a seasoned techie or just curious about what happens behind the scenes, there's a place for you in our production team.
