Apollo JH Priority Goals
Goal 1: We will ensure that we have diverse and engaging programs and learning opportunities to meet the diverse needs of all our students.
Goal 2: We will guarantee that all students will perform at or above grade level.
Goal3: We will recruit, retain and reward quality personnel.
Goal 4: We will ensure that all families, businesses and community partners are fully engaged in the mission of our district.
Goal 5: We will actively pursue creative funding sources and responsibly manage current resources to support our mission.
Goal 6: We will ensure that our facilities and infrastructures adapt to support our mission.
Goal 7: We will ensure the safety and wellness of students and staff while also achieving the missing of RISD for ALL to connect, learn, grow, and succeed during the time of the coronavirus pandemic.
Identified areas of work for Technology integration at Apollo Junior High:
EDUCATOR PREPARATION AND DEVELOPMENT
GOAL 1- EP1: Content of Professional Development
We will use technology to train teachers to create a technologically progressive learning space that promotes the use of positive resources.
This goal aligns with goal 1 from Apollo's priority goals because in being progressive about technology we are constantly addressing the diverse needs of our students.
Objective: ALL Apollo JH teachers will become Google Educator Level 1 certified by September 2022.
GOAL 2- EP 5: Levels of Understanding and Patterns of Use
ALL teachers will be proficient in forming customized learning environments utilizing available technology.
This goal aligns with goal 2 of Apollo’s priority goals because it contributes to securing the goal of all students performing at grade level including TA TEKS that are outlined for each grade level. For the 2020-2021 school year, 70% of teachers almost always discuss technology during planning meetings. (Up 18 points from 2019-2020.)
Objective: Increase the amount of teachers that discuss the use of available technologies during planning meetings by 30% to reach seamless integration of technology into curriculum.
TEACHING & LEARNING
GOAL 3- TL 1: Patterns of Classroom Use
We will transform learning using technology to partner with positive outside resources.
This goal aligns with goal 4 of Apollo’s priority goals because positive outside resources refers to the community and all it has to offer the students including how they can contribute. Over 85% of teachers & students report using devices daily, however both groups admit needing to integrate more opportunities for communicating, collaborating, being creative, and critically thinking.
Objective: Outline the affordances of all current forms of educational technologies available while attempting to close the 15% gap of teachers and students that use their device daily.
GOAL 4- TL 4: Technology Applications TEKS Implementation
We will ensure all teachers show evidence of TA TEKS in classroom activities.
This goal aligns with goal 2 of Apollo’s priority goals because it contributes to students performing at grade level.
Objective: Create TA TEKS checklist for content areas to increase TEKS integration by 50% in the next year.
LEADERSHIP, ADMINISTRATION, & INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT
GOAL 5- ALL staff members will contribute to the successful execution of the Campus Improvement Plan in all areas.
This goal aligns with goal 4 because it is a reflection of it.
Objective: Implement rewards programs that will target improvement over the next year as a trial run.
INFRASTRUCTURE FOR TECHNOLOGY
GOAL 6- We will pursue and maintain access to high quality technologies and accessories as well as knowledgeable personnel.
This goal aligns with goal 5 because we are responsibly managing our resources by maintaining adequate access.
Objective: Form a campus technology department/committee that will oversee constant access to new and emerging technoloiges and new tends in education that may be suitable for Apollo JH.
MISUSE OF TECHNOLOGY
GOAL 7- We will promote positive and proper use of campus distributed devices.
This goal aligns with Apollo’s goal #5 to responsibly manage current resources including the available technologies we currently have. This goal was derived from the campus SWOT analysis.
Objective: Gather input from a minimum of 70% of staff members to create a proper instructional use of devices instructional video.
