Women In God's Service
All members of WINGS are members of the LWML – Lutheran Women's Missionary League of the Central Illinois District. The object of the LWML is "To develop a greater zeal for mission work among Lutheran women of Central Illinois by providing: A) Material for missionary education, B) Programs for missionary inspiration, and C) Opportunities for missionary service."
WINGS, when asked, will provide a funeral meal for deceased members of the congregation. We also assist in hosting receptions, potluck meals, and providing treats for Vacation Bible School. And we help support our "adopted" seminary students.
St. Paul’s Choir has been a longstanding element of our congregational worship experience. The choir performs at many regular worship services throughout the church year, as well as during special services.
The choir welcomes new voices.
Until 1985 the library at St. Paul's consisted of less than four hundred books. After the Altar Guild received money from the Lela Bruns Estate, they began buying books and videos that the Sunday School teachers suggested. The Altar Guild also purchased thirty volumes of Martin Luther's lectures and twenty-five volumes of his works on the books of the Bible. Today the library contains over one thousand, five hundred books plus more than two hundred videos and a few CD's. When some member has a suggestion for an addition to the library, they have only to make it known to a member of the Altar Guild library committee.
