In the Story Studio the learning framework is a three part lesson;
hook the students with a learning activity, exploration or story reading
extended time of building, creating, drawing, labeling and writing stories
share story orally, in writing or digitally
See Story Studio Framework Infographic for more details:
Process
Use loose parts, story materials, art supplies to create and "play" out the story. Tell and retell the story using different materials and retell it to others to 'revise' drafts.
Draw a picture of the creation. This is a second (or third or fourth or fifth!) draft and some changes to the story may happen here.
Students may write by labeling pictures with initial sounds (emergent writers) or go straight to writing out the story. Consider using a story map or story framework to guide the process.
