A primer on the Tennessee Real Estate Assessment page:
Select Grundy County
Type in a name under “Owner Name” to get started, anyone. Use “Davies” or “Stewart”
You’ll get a list, in order to look around, select one of the “GIS Map” buttons on the right and you’ll go to that property. Don’t worry about which one just yet. You should get a plat with the property highlighted.
Zoom out for a broader view.
At the top of the right-hand panel, you’ll see “Identify” and other useful things. Click on “Identify” and your mouse pointer will have an “i” associated with it.
Just click on any parcel you see and it will be highlighted and zoomed in on. In the right panel, you’ll see “Click here for the most up-to-date ownership and assessment information.” If you click that, you’ll see lots of details of sale dates, values, etc. It’s not always up to date, or always correct, but still pretty good stuff.
Now that you’ve mastered this, you can just cruise around and click on any property you want. You can also overlay satellite imagery and street maps.
Click on the image to the left to see the active water permits for the area around Grundy County.
Maybe we can learn to use this for spotting new industries moving into the area?
Anyone know how to 'data scrape' the TDEC site and automate this process?
