As an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC), you are invited to share our greatest gift—the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ—with our parish family. This vital ministry supports the priest in distributing Holy Communion during Mass, especially when there are large congregations or limited ordained ministers.
Are you being called?
You might be a good fit for this ministry if you:
Feel a deep love and reverence for the Eucharist
Desire to serve others
Are a confirmed Catholic, 16+ years old
Are able to commit to scheduled Masses
Can serve reverently, respectfully, and responsibly
Want to feel more connected to our St. Joseph community!
What’s involved?
Being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion involves:
Arriving early to prayerfully prepare for the sacred role of distributing Communion
Reverently distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to communicants during Mass.
Assisting with post-Communion cleanup of sacred vessels
Training will be provided. No prior experience is needed—just a willing heart.
Grow in Faith and Fellowship
Being an EMHC is not just a ministry—it's a spiritual journey. As part of our EMHC team, you’ll be invited to:
Ongoing Trainings to deepen your understanding and strengthen your role
Retreats and Reflection Days for spiritual renewal
Social Gatherings that build friendships and a stronger sense of parish community
These moments of connection and formation help us serve more faithfully and grow closer to Christ and one another.
General Requirements
Must be 16 or older and a fully initiated Catholic
Be living a life consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Must attend Mass regularly and show reverence for the Eucharist
Completion of Live Scan and Safe Environment training
