Hi, my name is Chelsea Bell. I am an assistant professor at Emporia State University, and the founder of the Sensory Training In Neuroscience & Generalization (STING Lab). I am originally from Memphis, TN, and was a first-generation college student. I moved to Kansas to complete my doctorate degree in Cognitive Psychology at Kansas State University. I love to tell cheesy jokes, and am a serial hobbyist (painting, plants, baking, rock-climbing, reading, etc- I've probably tried it).
I'm interested in how we use our hearing and other sensations in everyday life that then affect how we learn things, or what we can remember. Our perception of sounds, vision, and touch are important to us to for safety reasons (e.g. responding to fire alarms, police sirens, and earthquakes), as well as educational (e.g. learning in the classroom, how to play a musical instrument, etc). To get a better understanding of the impacts on learning and memory, I use electroencephalography (EEG) to see correlations between brain activity and performance on learning and memory tasks. This research will hopefully help us point out our faults and biases in learning and memory so that we can strategize to improve ourselves, and could provide guidance to those studying clinical disorders such as tinnitus (ringing in the ears), schizophrenia, and learning disorders.

Graduate Student
My name is Izzy Allen. I am currently in the MS Experimental Psychology program at ESU. I received my Undergraduate education from the University of Central Missouri, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. My goals are to eventually become a professor and run my own research lab utilizing different brain imaging and human physiology methods (e.g., EEG, EKG, and EDA). My research interests are memory, learning, and neurophysiology.
Hi, my name is Amy Miranda. I am a first-year student in the Experimental Psychology MS Program. My research interests are memory, attention and motivation. Zerek Haight
Undergraduate Student
My name is Zerek Haight and I am going to Emporia State University to get my Bachelors in Psychology. Currently, this is my second year making me a sophomore. Afterwards, I plan to continue my education and get my Master and Doctoral degrees. While I am in my graduate programs, I would love to be a Teaching Assistant or Graduate Teaching Assistant. My specific interests are cognitive and social psychology. In my present coursework, I am conducting research over unique phonic names which goes over both my interests. After most of my schooling is finished, I plan to be a Social Psychologist who is research oriented. This most likely means I will be a university professor that conducts research I personally want to do. At the moment, I am in STING Lab, Psych Club, am a Psych Ambassador, and have a part time job at the Short Stop gas station across the street from university.

Mei Mei loves to run and wrestle with her brothers. She is a sweetheart, and constantly wants to be by your side. She loves to chew, including on balls (doesn't quite get the concept of fetch yet).
Favorite Sound: Mom's car pulling in the driveway

Ollie is a "cat-dog". He likes to sit on the back of the couch and on your chest. Even though he is fluffy, he isn't much of a cuddler. He loves to play fetch, and loves to play in water (when he can touch).
Favorite Sound: The sliding glass back door getting opened
~7 years old Cattle Dog mix
Miller (aka "Bubba") is a ~50lb lap dog. He loves to cuddle and take naps with you while he chases squirrels in his dreams. He has learned to bring a toy to you so Ollie will steal the toy, and he gets all your pets.
