USNOR (US to NORway) pioneered a 5-week lab-based course, "Introduction to Biomedical Sciences" on biomedical science, including a unique cross-cultural bioethical perspective on the use of genome sequencing in a clinical setting. The class was offered at NTNU exclusively for OSU students. The class was designed jointly by the two partner institutions and customized for each offering to enhance the global learning experience of the participants. The class was offered in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022 with a total of 39 participants. Click here 🎥to listen to participants reflecting on the impact of their experience in Norway.
Global experiential learning was integrated into USNOR with the offering of in-lab and in-field independent and individual research opportunities (3 months) to OSU students across the spectrum of life science disciplines, including plant biology, ecology, animal physiology, neuroscience, marine science, systems biology, and biomaterial science. Since 2023, 11 students from different majors (Molecular Genetics, Microbiology, Zoology, Entomology, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Science, Forest Ecosystem Science, Mathematics, and Physics) have been engaged in research at NTNU.
