Verdant Entangled is partially an environmental "what if" story centered around the possible ramifications of the eruption of the very real and geologically-threatening Yellowstone Caldera.  And although scientists do not believe an eruption of the Caldera is  imminent, there is no way at this point to know how soon an eruption might happen, or how extensive it might be... which gave me plenty of leeway to write my story.

This is also a survival story, how the many characters react to the crisis.  Researching the science and technology was the most fun for me, giving me a properly believable-sounding premise and resulting in a powerful SF story.  But even with believable tech in play, I made sure the book was primarily about the characters and their efforts to survive the disaster.

This novel was originally titled Verdant Skies; but as I revisited the story and revised the content, I became unhappy with the original title.  The updated version of the first novel, therefore, is now titled Verdant Entangled, and hopefully it'll stay that way.

Of all my novels, I may be proudest of this one.  It made me so happy that I had to follow it up with Verdant Pioneers, and am currently working on a third book to finish the Verdant saga.
