Steven Lyle Jordan goes by the pen name of Steven Lyle Jordan because it's easier than making something up...
Steven was a child of the original Star Trek generation, growing up around colorful science fiction and adventure programs, the recycled sci-fi movies and serials of the previous generation, and the books of the mid-20th century's SF masters. That period's scientific promises, epitomized by the Apollo Moon landings and the Space Shuttle program, the computer revolution, alternative energy and the environment, were central to his interests and pursuits.
Steven's skills include illustration, graphic art, web design and computer graphics (Steven creates his own book cover art). He was a bit surprised to discover that writing turned out to be his foremost creative skill, but not at all surprised that science fiction was his preferred subject.
He was also a pioneer of the emerging digital book and document formats of the 1990s, embracing and producing his own novels in ebook formats before mainstream media had even discovered ebooks. His knowledge and experience in ebook formatting earned him an interview by the New York Times. By the time Amazon had introduced the Kindle to the public, he'd already written and released his first half-dozen novels as ebooks. His passions for technology, humanity, nature and futurism have continued to dominate his novels and commentary, including an interview by the New York Times.
He's written 18 novels, and created one graphic novel based on the groundbreaking 1924 novel Metropolis. All of his works are copywritten and on record at the Library of Congress.
He has earned an average 4.4-star rating on Amazon with his novels, featuring fascinating characters, rousing action, realistic science and future scenarios. He's won awards and acclaim for his novels, including 2010 Top Four Reads at Daily Cheap Reads, Best of the Best Semi-Finalist at EditorJennifer.com (for Verdant Entangled), and Gold Star Winner in The Book Designer cover design competition, 2013 (for Sarcology). He's also been a panelist at AwesomeCon and Escape Velocity conventions.
In his free time, Steven enjoys touring the countryside on his motorcycle, listening to jazz (he carries digital copies of about 900 "favorite" songs with him at all times), keeping abreast on advances in science, technology and SF entertainment, and hanging around in his backyard "Green room" with his wife, a cat, a prehistoric Dawn Redwood, and unnumerable species of insects...
Steven and his novels can also be found on Goodreads and on Amazon.
