My teaching focuses on making economics accessible, applied and interactive. I aim to help students move beyond memorising models by using economic theory to interpret real-world evidence, historical events and contemporary policy questions.
Accessible quantitative teaching
I place particular emphasis on supporting students with varied mathematical backgrounds, building confidence in quantitative methods alongside technical competence.
Interactive economics
I use simulations, visualisations and browser-based tools to allow students to experiment with economic models and observe how changes in assumptions or policy affect outcomes.
Economics in context
Where possible, I connect theory to contemporary UK economic data, historical episodes and real policy debates, helping students understand both the usefulness and limitations of economic models.
Critical engagement with AI
I incorporate generative AI into teaching and assessment as an object of critical evaluation, encouraging students to identify weaknesses in AI-generated reasoning, improve arguments and reflect on the appropriate use of these tools.

My supervision interests are particularly suited to projects that combine economic questions with quantitative methods. I am especially interested in projects examining how institutions, firms and public policy shape innovation and economic outcomes, as well as research using large-scale textual or historical datasets to measure technological change.
I welcome enquiries from prospective postgraduate researchers whose interests overlap with these areas.
