Passion Project

Most of the time, a teacher chooses what you will get to do for an assignment and how you will be assessed. This is a normal way of doing things and is useful to teach about techniques and materials, art history, and art criticism.

However, for this assignment, YOU will choose what to create, the subject matter and what materials are needed. Giving you the choice to determine a project encourages independent thinking, persistence, and risk-taking - all

This project needs to be the best project you have made all year, the grand finale, one you want to show everyone! It should stretch your artistic skills, challenge you, excite you and take weeks to complete!

o get started, you will need to answer the questions below in detail. This will create a plan for YOU to follow and lets me know how to assist you with making sure you are on task and that you have the supplies you need.

 I will need to approve your project plan before you may begin working. You will not be able to make changes to it once it has been approved unless you and I reach an agreement in writing.

 You must have all your supplies ready to begin working by Jan 17. Your grade will be negatively impacted if you are not ready to work on this date.

1. What are you going to create? Tell me in detail. Is it a painting or a sculpture or something else? About how big will it be? Will it have texture? Color? Form? I want to know EVERYTHING! Write a paragraph to explain.

2. Create a sketch here of what you THINK your project will look like. It’s a sketch, but I need details! Label the materials or sections. Add color and designs. The sketch needs to fill this sheet of paper. Include lots of ideas and details! If your idea changes some later, no worries. Sketching your ideas is an important part of the creative process and gives me information to help you!
