Week 2: Jan 9-13 5 days (teacher absences on THURS and FRI)

- How can I create a casted form using plaster gauze?
- How can we work collaboratively as a group to create a temporary installation using paper? What is an installation?

- Ray Besserdin inspired installation: Following directions: paper folding: 3d snowflake (Thursday) you tube video tutorial: create at least three snowflakes for a class wide installation: 1 large and two small: put name on each, hang with fishing wire in Main office or office hallway upon completion with on Tuesday
Week3: Jan. 16-20 4 days (no school Monday MLK day- missed day for meeting in columbia)

- Balance Challenge: How can i Create a mobile with the provided materials: construction paper, wire, glue, aluminum foil for tooling, cardboard, paper clips, wire cutters, beads, etc..

Week 4: Jan. 23-27
- Artist of the week: Henry Moore and Richard arfsten
- Question of the week: How can I represent an emotion in three dimensional form with out realism?

- Artists Create with consideration of Design
- Artists Create Original Art
- Symbols and Emotions: Students draw a grid in their sketchbook dividing the paper into 6 spaces. In 10 minutes, they need to draw out 6 different emotions or feelings: Frustration, Excitement, Sorrow, Chaos, Boredom, Appreciation using unrecognizable symbolic forms and gestural lines.
- Communicate an idea and Create original art: (modeling using modeling clay to create a maquette of an emotion in abstract form.) (25 minutes)
- Plan and sketch out form based on emotion (small sketch in handmade sketchbook.)
- Milk jug subtractive plaster sculpture ( Wednesday) Small carving finished friday (submitted)Monday

Week 5: Jan 30- Feb. 3rd:

- Question of the week? Considering the rules of clay, how can I model a small proportional sculpture similar to the form i am observing?

- Modeling: in clay: basic rules of clay: Brief Demonstration (1 day)
- Hand out small toys- students spend 3 days working on modeling and observing the object to create a small sculpture similar in size, details, and form.

Week 6: Feb. 6-10
- Artists of the week:Wayne Thiebaud, Jeff Koonz, Claus Oldenberg
- Question of the week: using a balloon, paper towel tubes, newspaper, take, and paper machete, how can you create an animal form (bank)?

- Construction and Paper machette: Small coin bank using balloon, toilet paper tubes, tape, newspaper, adhesive, paint

Week 7: Feb

- Theme to explore: Favorite thing about school
- Students will create a subtractive tile using clay and carving tools. Students will cast the tile using a cardboard mold and plaster. Students will proceed to make two copies of the tile. One to donate to the school and one to keep.

- Stella inspired cardboard relief installation (cardboard and acrylic paint) Everyone is responsible for 3 pieces.

- Question: How can I symbolize my family in a small assemblage piece?
