VISIT THE GEOSCIENCES MONTPELLIER ANALOG MODELING LAB.

The Geosciences Montpellier Analogue Modeling Laboratory is one of the top-ranked tectonic analog modeling facilities in the world. It was created in the early 1980’s by Jacques Malavieille who developed several original set-ups to investigate experimentally, mountain building processes at all scales. In the 1990’s, Serge Lallemand joined the lab and started developing new projects with Jacques Malavieille focusing on active margins, accretionary wedge dynamics, seamount subduction. In the 2000's, Stéphane Dominguez developed new types of equipment on the cutting edge of technology and new scientific thematics (tectonics/erosion interactions, seismic cycle, etc.).

THE FRENCH TECTONIC MODELING NETWORK

TECMOD-F is a French collaborative network involving 9 laboratories developing research projects integrating experimental modeling approaches; Géosciences Rennes, Géosciences Montpellier, GéoSystèmes Lille, GéoAzur, GéophyLab Nantes, Géosciences Environnement Toulouse, Géosciences et environnement Cergy, Magma et Volcan Clermont-Ferrand, FAST Orsay.

THE GEOMOD CONFERENCES

The GeoMod conferences are biennial international workshops focusing on experimental and numerical modeling in Geosciences. Previous GeoMod conferences took place in Paris (2023), Utrecht (2021), Barcelona (2018), Montpellier (2016), Potsdam (2014), Lausanne (2012), Lisbon (2010), Florence (2008), Lucerne (2004), Milan (2002). The next Geomod meeting is scheduled in 2025 in Portugal (Lisbonne).
